Carla Hammond appointed Chief Financial Officer at Howden Health & Employee Benefits

Howden has announced the appointment of Carla Hammond as Chief Financial Officer for Howden Health & Employee Benefits (HEB) and Barnett Waddingham (BW). In this role, she will lead financial strategy, governance and performance across Howden’s combined UK employee benefits business. Hammond will also provide financial oversight for HEB’s global operations, supporting Howden’s growing international employee benefits footprint.
Hammond joins from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), where she spent 18 years in senior finance leadership roles, most recently as Head of Finance for the UK & Ireland. Her experience spans business partnering and financial leadership across the UK, EMEA and US, and she has a strong track record in strengthening internal processes and reshaping finance structures to support growth.
Her appointment reflects Howden’s commitment to combining commercial pace with strong governance and financial discipline as the HEB and BW partnership continues to expand. Carla will report to Glenn Thomas, CEO, UK Health & Employee Benefits and Global Practice Leader at Howden.
This announcement follows Howden’s acquisition of Barnett Waddingham in April 2025, which created a market leading force in the global employee benefits and pensions advisory sector, with approximately 4,000 experts across 40 countries, delivering total combined revenues exceeding £500 million.

Lloyd’s appoints Alexandra Cliff as Chief Financial Officer

Lloyd’s, the world’s leading marketplace for insurance and reinsurance, has announced the appointment of Alexandra Cliff as its Chief Financial Officer. Her appointment will commence on 1 May 2025.  
Alex joined Lloyd’s as Deputy CFO in November 2022 and currently serves on Lloyd’s Executive Committee. Alex has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, having held senior finance roles in insurance and broking firms including Direct Line Group, StarStone, and AJ Gallagher. Alex is a Chartered Accountant and spent eight years at PwC in both London and the US. 
Alex will succeed Burkhard Keese, following a long-established succession plan, who leaves Lloyd’s to focus on investment roles in the German insurance market. Burkhard will remain a strategic advisor to Lloyd’s and will focus on the development of the risk transfer vehicle London Bridge Two. 
Burkhard joined Lloyd’s in 2019 and during his time as CFO he has been at the forefront of the significant performance turnaround of the Lloyd’s market, and in the strengthening of its balance sheet, recognised by S&P Global and AM Best accrediting Lloyd’s with the highest financial strength ratings in its history. He has also advanced Lloyd’s position as an attractive and accessible market for global investors to place their capital through London Bridge One and Two.  
Alex Cliff’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

AIG Appointed Keith Walsh Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) announced that Keith Walsh will join the company as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, effective October 21, 2024. Mr. Walsh will report to AIG Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Peter Zaffino and become a member of the Executive Leadership Team. He will be responsible for leading AIG’s global Finance organization and will be based in New York.

With more than 25 years of finance leadership experience, Mr. Walsh joins AIG from Marsh McLennan, where he served as Chief Financial Officer of Marsh. From 2012 to 2017, he was Vice President and Head of Investor Relations for Marsh McLennan Companies. Previously, Mr. Walsh spent 14 years as an equity research analyst at Citi where he covered the insurance sector. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University at Albany-SUNY and a Master of Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business.
In this role, Mr. Walsh succeeds Sabra Purtill, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since January 2023. Ms. Purtill will continue to report to Mr. Zaffino working on strategic projects and will act as an advisor to Mr. Walsh to enable a smooth transition. Following a distinguished career in which Ms. Purtill served in senior leadership roles in financial services and insurance companies, she joined AIG in 2019 as Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. She subsequently served as AIG’s Chief Risk Officer from 2021 to 2022 helping the company navigate the pandemic while enhancing AIG’s profile with stakeholders including the financial community. From April 2022 Ms. Purtill served as Chief Investment Officer of Corebridge Financial before returning to AIG in January 2023.

MS Amlin confirms successor for Chief Financial Officer

MS Amlin, the Lloyd’s global (re)insurer, announced the appointment of Jessie Burrows as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”). Reporting into Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) Andrew Carrier, Jessie will assume her role during Q1 2024 subject to regulatory approval.
As part of a structured handover process, Jessie will work alongside current and retiring CFO Phil Green, throughout the first quarter of 2024, as the two oversee the closure and submission of the 2023 year-end financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
Jessie brings over twenty five years of knowledge and experience across the financial services sector to MS Amlin, most recently as Managing Director – Customer Sales, Service and Claims at Direct Line Group (“DLG”), an Executive Committee role that sees her leading the efforts of around 6,500 people, across both commercial and personal lines. Jessie joined DLG more than 7 years ago, originally as Group Financial Controller.
Prior to DLG, Jessie held a variety of increasingly senior roles at Aviva, including Head of Investor Relations, Audit Director for Aviva Global Asset Management, Chief Accounting Officer, and finally FP&A Director for Aviva’s UK & Ireland General Insurance business. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Jessie also spent a number of years within KPMG’s insurance practice, supporting clients across a broad spectrum of consulting and advisory services.

Andrea Maffezzoni apppointed as new Chief Financial Officer of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena

The Board of Directors of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. held yesterday evening under the chairmanship of Patrizia Grieco has unanimously resolved the appointment of Andrea Maffezzoni, as new Chief Financial Officer, position he will cover immediately.
Andrea Maffezzoni assumes the role following the resignation of Giuseppe Sica for personal reasons. The Board of Directors expresses its sincere thanks to Giuseppe Sica for the work done since his appointment.
Andrea Maffezzoni, 50 years old, boasts a long career in UniCredit, which started in 1998 where he covered several positions until the appointment of Head of Strategy and M&A in April 2017, a role in which he supported top management in defining, developing, and implementing the Group’s strategy. Since August 2021, he has held the position of Head of Group Capital, Performance and Shareholding Management.

Lomar Shipping Appoints Dennis Psachos As Chief Financial Officer

Lomar Shipping, the shipping subsidiary of the Libra Group, has announced the appointment of Dennis Psachos as Chief Financial Officer. He will replace outgoing CFO Manos Kouligkas who has been promoted to a new role within Lomar’s parent company, the Libra Group, an international business group whose subsidiaries own and operate assets in more than 50 countries.
Dennis joined Lomar as its Deputy CFO in mid-December, and will now lead a financial team based at its London, United Kingdom headquarters and in Bremen, Germany.
Lomar’s CEO Nicholas Georgiou said, “We have been planning this transition for a considerable time and are delighted to confirm the appointment of Dennis Psachos, who brings extraordinary experience working within the shipping industry and our global markets. We also look forward to continue working with Manos Kouligkas in his new role at our parent company, the Libra Group.”

He has 12 years of experience in shipping and was previously the CFO of Prime Marine, a prominent shipping company based in Athens that invests in and manages oil tankers and LPG carriers.
Earlier in his career, Dennis was the Financial Controller of OceanFreighters, a well-established Piraeus-based bulk-carrier owning and operating company, and prior to that, he was an External Auditor in the Shipping division of Ernst & Young’s offices in Athens and Oslo. Dennis is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA). He holds a MSc in Shipping from the University of Piraeus and a BSc in Economics from the University of Athens.

Aviva appoints Charlotte Jones as Chief Financial Officer

Aviva plc has appointed Charlotte Jones as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director with effect from 5 September 2022. Charlotte was previously Chief Financial Officer of RSA Insurance plc and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the RSA UK & International business.
Charlotte has enjoyed a highly successful career in financial services including as CFO of Jupiter Fund Management plc, where she was the member of the Board and Executive Committee with responsibility for finance and corporate strategy. Before that she was Head of Group Finance at Credit Suisse Group and Deputy Group CFO at Deutsche Bank Group. She started her career at EY.

Chubb Names Drew Spitzer Treasurer; Kevin Harkin Appointed Chief Financial Officer for North America Insurance

Chubb Limited announced that Drew Spitzer has been appointed Treasurer of the company.  Currently, Mr. Spitzer serves as Chief Financial Officer for North America Insurance.  In his new role, he will be responsible for all treasury-related functions of the company globally.
Kevin Harkin is succeeding Mr. Spitzer as Chief Financial Officer for North America Insurance.  Currently, Mr. Harkin serves as Senior Vice President, North America Financial Operations.
Both appointments are effective March 1.  Mr. Spitzer will report to Peter Enns, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and Chief Financial Officer, and succeeds Mark Hammond, who is leaving the company.  Mr. Hammond will remain with Chubb until March 1 to ensure a smooth transition.  Mr. Harkin will report to John Lupica, Vice Chairman, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance and to Mr. Enns.
“Drew, who has been with Chubb for more than 15 years, is a seasoned finance and accounting executive with deep experience across our commercial and consumer insurance businesses,” said Mr. Enns.  “He’s a strong, effective manager with a strategic mindset, technical proficiency and proven capabilities in financial planning and analysis and credit management. Mr. Spitzer has more than 25 years of experience in finance, accounting and insurance.  Prior to serving as Chief Financial Officer of Chubb’s North American operations, he was Chief Financial Officer of Combined Insurance, a Chubb affiliate that sells personal accident and supplemental health insurance coverages to consumers in North America.  Mr. Spitzer joined the company, then named ACE, in 2006 as Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Accounting Officer.  Prior to Chubb, Mr. Spitzer was a Partner at Fecteau & Company, an accounting firm, and a Vice President at Rockledge Financial Group.  He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Spitzer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Harkin has more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and accounting.  As Senior Vice President, North America Financial Operations, he provided finance support for field operations and distribution management in the region, including overseeing the strategic use of technology and data in finance integration initiatives.  He joined the company, then named ACE, in 2007 and has held finance roles in corporate financial planning and analysis, expense management, close functions and statutory reporting.  He began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and, later, EY.  Mr. Harkin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Richmond.

MS Amlin Underwriting Limited appoints David Mocklow as US Chief Financial Officer & Chief Claims Officer

MS Amlin Underwriting Limited (MS AUL) announced the appointment of David Mocklow as Chief Financial Officer & Chief Claims Officer of a newly formed, US based sister company, MS Amlin Distribution Holdings (MS ADH). Mocklow takes up the roles with immediate effect, and will report into Johan Slabbert CEO of MS ADH.
MS ADH will play a fundamental role in MS AUL’s US underwriting strategy, announced earlier this year with the acquisition of US Managing General Agency (MGA) International Transportation and Marine Office LLC (ITMO), alongside an investment in InQlusiv LLC, a US based Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) focussed MGA. MS ADH will explore further acquisitions and investment opportunities for MS AUL, whilst serving as the holding company for future US based acquisitions.
Mocklow brings more than 25 years of experience in (re)insurance and capital markets. He joins MS ADH from Gramercy Risk Management, where as a founding member of the team he served as Head of Strategy & Corporate Development, providing underwriting, risk management, loss control and claims management services to the US property and casualty insurance industry. Prior to this, Mocklow worked for the investment banking firm Fox-Pitt Kelton Cochran Caronia Waller and for Aon, where has was a founding member of the Aon Capital Markets team in Chicago.

Chubb Announces Chief Financial Officer Philip Bancroft to Retire; Peter Enns to Become CFO Effective July 1

Chubb announced that Philip Bancroft, Executive Vice President of Chubb Group and Chief Financial Officer, plans to retire from the company on July 1 after 19 years of service.  Peter Enns has agreed to join the company on or before April 1 as Executive Vice President, Finance, Chubb Group and succeed Mr. Bancroft upon his retirement. 

Mr. Enns has more than 30 years of finance and investment banking experience.  He spent over 20 years with Goldman Sachs in various senior roles, including partner of the firm’s U.S. Financial Institutions Group based in New York, head of its Asia Financial Institutions Group based in Hong Kong, and chief executive of its business operations in Canada.  More recently, Mr. Enns held a number of roles with HSBC, including his last assignment as Global Co-Head of Investment Banking Coverage based in Hong Kong.  
Mr. Enns will report to Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and join the company’s Executive Committee.  Mr. Bancroft is expected to remain with the company in an advisory capacity for the balance of the year and be available to support Mr. Enns.

Mr. Enns joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 and for over two decades held positions of increasing authority.  He served as Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs Canada from 2014 to 2017; Head of the Asia Financial Institutions Group from 2010 to 2014; and Partner of the U.S. Financial Institutions Group from 2006 to 2010.  Earlier in his Goldman Sachs career he served as Managing Director and Senior Coverage Banker for the North America Financial Institutions Group and as Vice President, Managing Director and Senior Coverage Banker for Goldman Sachs Canada.  Mr. Enns joined HSBC in 2018 as Global Head, Financial Institutions Group and subsequently served as Global Co-Head of Corporate Finance Coverage and, most recently, as Global Co-Head of Investment Banking Coverage. 
Mr. Enns holds an MBA degree in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Western Ontario.  Mr. Enns is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
