Everest Appoints Pamela Sinclair as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Everest Group, Ltd. (NYSE: EG), a global underwriting leader providing best-in-class property, casualty, and specialty reinsurance and insurance solutions, announced that Pamela Sinclair will join Everest as EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 14. Ms. Sinclair will report to Jim Williamson, Everest President and CEO, and will serve on the Company’s Executive Leadership Team.
Ms. Sinclair succeeds Gail Van Beveren, Everest’s Chief Human Resources Officer, who will retire after serving at Everest since 1986. Ms. Sinclair brings three decades of experience leading transformational human capital strategies for complex, global financial services and insurance firms, most recently serving as Global Head of Human Resources at PGIM, a leading global asset manager with $1.4 trillion in assets under management.
“Pam is an exceptional HR leader with a track record of optimizing and aligning human capital strategies with business objectives,” said Jim Williamson. “Her broad, global experience will be integral to supporting the world-class talent who drive Everest’s high-performing, people-first culture and deliver on our value creation strategy.”

As the Global Head of Human Resources at PGIM, Ms. Sinclair led the firm’s talent acquisition, change management, compensation, succession and leadership development, and employee engagement strategies for 4,500+ global colleagues. Prior to that, Ms. Sinclair served as Global Head of Human Resources at PGIM Real Estate, where she developed and elevated all corporate functions and was a member of the firm’s Global Management Council and the Global Operating Council.
Prior to PGIM, Ms. Sinclair was Senior HR Business Partner for global markets at Barclays Capital, where she led the firm’s learning and development team in New York. She spent over a decade in various senior roles at Barclays Bank in New York and London, overseeing all aspects of human capital management through large-scale M&A activity.
Ms. Sinclair earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Greenwich University in London, where she graduated with honors.

Chubb Appoints John Thompson Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President of International Personal Lines
Chubb Limited announced that John Thompson has been appointed Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President of International Personal Lines. The company also named Daniela Hernandez Division President of International Accident & Health (A&H). Both divisions are part of Overseas General Insurance, the company’s international general insurance business that operates in 51 countries and territories. Mr. Thompson and Ms. Hernandez’s new roles are effective June 1 and both will report to Juan Luis Ortega, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, Overseas General Insurance.
Currently, Mr. Thompson serves as Division President, International A&H. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading Chubb’s division that provides a broad range of traditional and specialty personal lines insurance products to targeted customer segments. Mr. Thompson will succeed Darryl Page, Vice President, Chubb Group, who is retiring following a 10-year career with the company. Mr. Page will remain with Chubb through July 1 and will work with Mr. Thompson to ensure a smooth transition.
Ms. Hernandez, who is succeeding Mr. Thompson, currently leads Chubb’s Life and A&H business in Chile, including the company’s strategic partnership with Banco de Chile. In her new role, she will be responsible for the company’s international personal accident, supplemental health and travel insurance businesses.
“John is taking on the leadership of our international personal lines business after five years leading our international A&H business, contributing to the establishment of several strategic partnerships around the world and evolving our digital strategies. He successfully navigated the complexities brought on by the pandemic, ultimately providing Chubb with a stronger A&H franchise,” said Mr. Ortega.

Mr. Thompson joined the company, then named ACE, in 2012 as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for International Personal Lines, playing a leading role in advancing the company’s global consumer product and geographic diversification strategy with a focus on auto, residential and high net worth portfolios. He started his career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Mr. Thompson holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Utah State University and an MBA degree from the Yale School of Management.
Ms. Hernandez joined ACE as a financial lines underwriter in 2014. Prior to her current role, she has held leadership positions in Latin America as chief of staff for the region and head of A&H distribution in Mexico. Ms. Hernandez holds a double Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Trade and International Business Administration from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and has completed post graduate work in Risk and Information Economics at La Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
Chubb Names Shekar Pannala Vice President, Chubb Group and Global Chief Information Officer
Chubb Limited announced that Shekar Pannala has been appointed Vice President, Chubb Group and Global Chief Information Officer. Formerly Executive Vice President, Global Technology, Mr. Pannala in his new role is responsible for the strategic direction and execution leadership of Chubb’s global technology function across applications, operations and architecture as well as furthering the company’s digital technology capabilities.
The new role was effective January 1, 2022. Mr. Pannala reports to Thomas Kropp, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Global Head of Operations and Technology.
“Over the past four years, Shekar has led many of the technology initiatives underway to prepare Chubb for the future,” said Julie Dillman, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and Digital Transformation Officer. “He is a strong executive with broad and deep technical knowledge and experience, from foundational systems to emerging digital technologies. Mr. Pannala has more than 25 years of technology experience. As Executive Vice President, Global Technology, he was responsible for application development, architecture and digital technology globally. Earlier in his career at Chubb, Mr. Pannala was Chief Technology Officer and Global Digital CIO. Prior to joining the company in 2017, he was Chief Technology Officer at S&P Global. Mr. Pannala also held senior management roles at BNY Mellon, where he was Executive Vice President and Divisional Chief Information Officer responsible for asset servicing technology. Before joining BNY Mellon, he was Senior Vice President at State Street Corp. Mr. Pannala also worked at IBM in the company’s advanced technologies group.
Mr. Pannala holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communications from Acharya Nagarjuna University, a certificate in software technology, computer sciences from the C-DAC Centre in Mumbai (formerly the National Centre for Software Technology) and has completed the Advanced Management Program from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Lisa M. Buckingham Joins AIG as Executive Vice President, Global Head of AIG Enterprise Design and Life & Retirement Separation Initiatives
American International Group, Inc. today announced that Lisa M. Buckingham will join the company in April 2021 in the newly created role of Executive Vice President, Global Head of AIG Enterprise Design and Life & Retirement Separation Initiatives. Based in New York, Ms. Buckingham, 55, will report to President and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Zaffino.
“AIG is undergoing transformative change and actively designing a simpler and more effective corporate structure as we pursue a separation of the Life & Retirement business from AIG through an initial public offering or sale of up to 19.9 percent, as an initial step,” Mr. Zaffino said. “Lisa brings significant expertise and leadership skills that will help drive the success of the separation and ensure that the organizational design of Life & Retirement and AIG’s remaining businesses, allow them to continue operating as market leading companies in their respective industries.”
Ms. Buckingham, who has more than 30 years of Corporate Management experience, joins AIG from Lincoln Financial Group where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief People, Place and Brand Officer. In this role, she focused on Organizational Design and Development, Leadership Effectiveness, Culture Building, Enterprise Communications, Brand and Advertising, Business Continuity and Talent Development.

In October 2017, she was named HR Executive of the Year by HR Executive Magazine. In February 2015, she was named one of the top 10 CHROs in a list published by Forbes.
Van Spanos Joins Core Specialty Insurance E&S Group as VP
Van Spanos has joined Cincinnati, Ohio-based Core Specialty Insurance Holdings Inc.’s newly formed excess and surplus (E&S) primary Product Liability group as vice president.
Spanos is responsible for managing all facets of this business, including direct oversight of the underwriting team dedicated to the E&S Product Liability market segment.
The Product Liability line will operate as a component of Core Specialty’s existing Excess Casualty Division.
Spanos was most recently with Tokio Marine Insurance where he served as the vice president of National Product Liability. In this role, he was responsible for starting the Product Liability division. Prior to joining Tokio Marine, Spanos spent the previous 16 years with Great American Insurance serving as a divisional vice president.
Core Specialty is an insurance holding company operating through StarStone Specialty Insurance Company, a U.S. excess and surplus lines insurer, and StarStone National Insurance Company, a U.S. admitted markets insurer.
Liberty Mutual appoints Janelle Edem Senior Vice President, Global Risk Solutions
Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Janelle Edem Senior Vice President, Global Risk Solutions (GRS), Liberty Mutual’s global commercial and specialty lines (re)insurer, which provides a full range of innovative traditional insurance, specialty and reinsurance risk solutions to businesses around the world.
Reporting to GRS President Dennis Langwell, Edem will lead GRS’ strategic planning and process excellence work. She will continue to serve as GRS Chief of Staff, a position to which she was appointed early last year.
“Janelle has been a valued member of the GRS executive leadership team over the past 15 months,” notes Langwell. “Her knowledge of our industry, business and customer expectations will be important to our long-term vision and strategy planning process. The Standard Hires John Rucker as Assistant Vice President of Corporate Tax
Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) announced that John Rucker has been hired as assistant vice president of Corporate Tax. Rucker will be responsible for developing and leading a team of dedicated tax professionals who will work with other financial reporting and operations personnel to streamline and achieve efficiencies in The Standard’s tax reporting and information gathering processes.
Rucker joins The Standard with more than 38 years of corporate tax experience with Ernst & Young and Deloitte Tax. Most recently Rucker served as senior vice president of Tax for Lionsgate Entertainment. “I am excited to welcome John to the team,” said Rob Erickson, vice president, chief accounting officer and treasurer at The Standard. “He brings a wealth of tax experience including deep multistate expertise to his role at The Standard.”
Rucker holds a Master of Laws in taxation from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
The Standard Promotes Maria Gonzalez to Vice President of Retirement Plans Services
Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) announced today that Maria Gonzalez has been promoted to vice president of Retirement Plans Services.
Prior to joining the Standard in 2003, Maria worked in investment banking for Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. At The Standard, Gonzalez has held leadership roles in Corporate Finance, Individual Annuities, Marketing and Employee Benefits. She joined the Retirement Plans division in 2010 and was promoted to assistant vice president in 2014. She was instrumental in transforming the Plan Services division in 2017. In her new role, Gonzalez will be responsible for all service and operation functions for the Retirement Plans division and will continue to serve on the board of Stancorp Investment Advisers.

HDI Appoints Jessica Cao to Vice President, Actuary
HDI Global Insurance Company (HDI Global USA) today announced the appointment of Jessica Cao to Vice President, Actuary. Ms. Cao will be based in Chicago and will report to Brad Diericx, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
Ms. Cao will lead the company’s actuarial organization. She will be responsible for the company’s claims reserve function, aligning pricing across all lines of business, and implementing critical analysis to support and improve underwriting profitability.

Prior to joining HDI, Ms. Cao served as an actuarial specialist at AmWINS Specialty Casualty Solutions, where she determined pricing for workers‘ comp and liability treaties, including PEO, public entities and healthcare. In her close to two-decades of industry experience, she has held leadership roles at StarStone, Zurich, CNA, and Liberty Mutual.
Ms. Cao holds a B.S. in Economics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China and a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from Pennsylvania State University. In 2006, she was admitted as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
