Tokio Marine Kiln appoints Thomas McShane as Head of Technology and Media E&O

Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed Thomas McShane to the newly created role of Head of Technology and Media E&O. He joins the business in January, and will report directly into Laila Khudairi, Departmental Head of Cyber & Enterprise Risk.
McShane will be responsible for strengthening and further diversifying TMK’s global cyber and technology offering, with a focus on supporting technology and media businesses. His expertise in Technology E&O complements and enhances the team’s renowned cyber and IP offering.  
Reflecting TMK’s wider business strategy and focus, McShane will also be tasked with driving the growth of the portfolio across UK, U.S., Europe and Australia.
McShane brings nearly a decade of professional lines experience to TMK. He joins from Axis where he was E&O lead. In this role, he was responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the portfolio, writing large and complex policies for open market technology businesses, and continually evolving the product suite and wordings to reflect the changing risk landscape. Prior to this, he spent nearly seven years at Allianz and AIG, underwriting professional indemnity lines and cyber.
The appointment reflects both TMK’s continued growth in the London market and its commitment to specialty lines of business in all regions.

Tokio Marine Kiln establishes Specialty Reinsurance division

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), a leading, international specialist insurance underwriting business, announced the formation of a new Specialty Reinsurance division to support its continued focus on growth and diversification.
The new division will be led by Phil Taylor who will be appointed Head of Specialty Reinsurance as part of the company’s growth ambitions in the sector.  
Taylor brings more than 25 years of experience in various underwriting and broking roles with Everest, Liberty Specialty Markets, Novae and Aon. He will focus on building TMK’s global specialty reinsurance portfolio and will join TMK in early 2025.
