Probunkers signs The Neptune Declaration
Probunkers signed The Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change in a worldwide call to take action to end the unprecedented crew change crisis caused by Covid-19. The signatories recognize that we have a shared responsibility to ensure that the current crew change crisis is resolved as soon as possible and to use the learnings from the crisis as an opportunity to build a more resilient maritime supply chain.

The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented crew change crisis which has led to hundreds of thousands of seafarers being impacted and in many instances left stranded on ships beyond the expiry of their contracts. Despite significant efforts to address challenges faced by seafarers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to support global supply chain, the issue is still far from resolved. This is not an acceptable way to treat seafarers, who are the frontline workers of the maritime industry carrying 90% of global trade.
More than 300 companies and organizations recognize that they have a shared responsibility based on their roles across the entire maritime value chain, and beyond, to ensure that the crew change crisis is resolved as soon as possible. They have signed the Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change that defines four main actions to facilitate crew changes and keep global supply chains functioning:
• Recognize seafarers as key workers and give them priority access to Covid-19 vaccines• Establish and implement gold standard health protocols based on existing best practice• Increase collaboration between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes• Ensure air connectivity between key maritime hubs for seafarers
Probunkers Submits Request For LNG Bunkering License In Port Of Singapore
Probunkers responded to the Request for Proposal (RFP) of The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) for new licensees for supply of LNG as a marine fuel in the port of Singapore.
The submission request for an LNG bunkering license for the port of Singapore is aligned with the business plan of the company.Over the last two years the management team of probunkers is working closely with all stakeholders in all areas of interest.
probunkers’ CEO, Alexander Prokopakis commented: “Our submission request for an LNG bunkering license for the Port of Singapore supports our quest to become the first independent global LNG bunker supplier.The LNG fuelled fleet is growing and we see an increasing interest from charterers and shipowners for LNG as a marine fuel.It is widely acceptable that in order to see significant development in LNG as a marine fuel changes need to be made. It is time for more commercial and transparent practices along the lines of traditional oil bunkering. Long term contracts and commitments is the way of doing business in the past, the industry needs to move forward. This is the value proposition of probunkers.”
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (“MPA”) sees LNG as a solution to meet mid-to-long term needs of the international and domestic shipping community for cleaner marine fuel. There has been increasing interest among shipowners to use LNG as a marine fuel and an increasing number of ports equipped with the infrastructure for supply. The MPA launched the RFP on October 28th, 2020 and the deadline for submission by interested parties was December 15th, 2020. MPA seeks to announce the successful award of the new LNG bunker licensees by February 2021.

Η probunkers συμφώνησε με την Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) για την κατασκευή δύο εφοδιαστικών πλοίων (LNG Bunker Vessels-LNGBV), 7,600 m3 το καθένα, για εφοδιασμό Υγροποιημένου Φυσικού Αερίου ως καύσιμο (LNG as a Fuel), υπογράφοντας LOI με το κορυφαίο Νοτιοκορεάτικο Ναυπηγείο.
Η υπογραφή της επιστολής προθέσεων (LOI) έρχεται ως προϊόν μιας λεπτομερούς και χρονοβόρας διαδικασίας κατά την οποία η τεχνική ομάδα της probunkers, στα πλαίσια ανεύρεσης της βέλτιστης επιλογής για την καλύτερη εξυπηρέτηση του σκοπού του έργου, εξέτασε περισσότερες από τριάντα προτάσεις σχεδιασμού πλοίων. Στην διαδικασία συμμετείχαν αναγνωρισμένοι οργανισμοί όπως ο Αμερικανικός Νηογνώμονας (ABS), κορυφαίες εταιρίες σχεδιασμού, μηχανικής και κατασκευής, καθώς και έμπειροι ναυτικοί που παρακολουθούν τις εξελίξεις στον κόσμο του LNG ως καύσιμο.

Το ναυπηγείο Hyundai Mipo (HMD) αποτελεί μέρος του ομίλου Hyundai Heavy Industries. Ιδρύθηκε το 1975 και από το 1996, όταν το ναυπηγείο άρχισε να ασχολείται με την κατασκευή πλοίων, έχει παραδώσει περισσότερα από 1000 πλοία. Έχοντας λάβει διεθνή βραβεία, όπως του Καλύτερου Ναυπηγείου 2011 (Best Shipbuilding Yard 2011) από την Lloyd’s List, το HMD κατατάσσεται στα πιο προηγμένα τεχνολογικά ναυπηγεία παγκοσμίως. Το HMD είναι επίσης ένα από τα πολύ λίγα ναυπηγεία, που μπορούν να επιδείξουν εμπειρία στον τομέα του σχεδιασμού και της κατασκευής πλοίων LNG, ιδιαίτερα εφοδιαστικών πλοίων LNG (LNGBV).
