HDI Global opens new branch in Portugal
HDI Global SE continues to expand internationally and has now received regulatory approval to open another branch on the Iberian Peninsula. As one of the world’s leading industrial insurers, HDI Global has been operating in the Portuguese market for more than two decades under freedom of services. The new branch office in the capital, Lisbon, comes as a natural evolution of that business and will complement the existing customer and broker platform in Iberia, allowing HDI Global to move closer to its Portuguese customers.
HDI Global plans to start its activity locally at the beginning of 2024 and is currently assembling its local team that will focus on providing tailored innovative insurance products and services to the local market. The search for new staff with extensive market expertise is already underway.
HDI Global’s extensive portfolio of solutions will be replicated in Portugal and will include state-of-the-art insurance for property damage and business interruption, Casualty, Energy and Construction, Marine, Cyber, and Specialty Lines. It will also bring access to HDI Global´s International Programme network and its Captive Fronting and Alternative Risk Transfer capabilities. Nuno Antunes, current Iberia Head of Client Strategy and Portugal Country Manager, will lead the new branch as Managing Director. Nuno is a well-respected insurance senior executive with a career spanning more than two decades in the UK, France, Spain, and Portugal.

Οι Πορτογάλοι εκλέγουν πρόεδρο εν μέσω αυστηρού εγκλεισμού
Άνοιξαν σήμερα το πρωί οι κάλπες για τις προεδρικές εκλογές στην Πορτογαλία, τις οποίες αναμένεται να κερδίσει ο απερχόμενος πρόεδρος της χώρας Μαρσέλο Ρεμπέλο ντε Σόουζα, αλλά εκφράζονται φόβοι ότι σε αυτές θα υπάρξει χαμηλή συμμετοχή του εκλογικού σώματος καθώς η χώρα τελεί υπό λοκντάουν για την αναχαίτιση της επιδημίας του νέου κορωνοϊού.
Οι κάλπες άνοιξαν στις 08:00 τοπική ώρα (10:00 ώρα Ελλάδος) και τα αποτελέσματα των δημοσκοπήσεων κατά την έξοδο από τις κάλπες (exit-polls) αναμένεται να γίνουν γνωστά αφού κλείσουν στις 22:00 ώρα Ελλάδος και τα τελευταία εκλογικά τμήματα, αυτά που βρίσκονται στις Αζόρες, τα οποία θα ανοίξουν δύο ώρες αργότερα από τα υπόλοιπα στην Πορτογαλία.
Τα επίσημα αποτελέσματα αναμένεται να γίνουν γνωστά μόλις ολοκληρωθεί η καταμέτρηση των ψηφοδελτίων.
Ο απερχόμενος πρόεδρος, ο μετριοπαθής συντηρητικός Μαρσέλ Ρεμπέλο ντε Σόουζα, αναμένεται να εξασφαλίσει μια δεύτερη πενταετή θητεία έπειτα από μια ειρηνική συνύπαρξη με την σοσιαλιστική κυβέρνηση του πρωθυπουργού Αντόνιο Κόστα.
Οι δημοσκοπήσεις προβλέπουν την επανεκλογή του ήδη από τον πρώτο γύρο, με το βασικό στοίχημα των σημερινών εκλογών να αφορά το ποσοστό που θα κερδίσει ο υποψήφιος της ακροδεξιάς Αντρέ Βεντούρα, ο οποίος ελπίζει να προκαλέσει έκπληξη ερχόμενος δεύτερος και ξεπερνώντας την σοσιαλίστρια πρώην Ευρωβουλευτή Άνα Γκόμες.
Οι παρατηρητές εκφράζουν φόβους για μια αποχή ρεκόρ, η οποία μπορεί να φτάσει το 70%, την ώρα που η χώρα βρίσκεται εδώ και 10 ημέρες σε γενικό λοκντάουν για να αναχαιτιστεί μια έξαρση των κρουσμάτων του νέου κορονοϊού.
Μετά τα εμπορικά καταστήματα και τα εστιατόρια, η κυβέρνηση αναγκάστηκε να προχωρήσει στο κλείσιμο των σχολείων για ένα δεκαπενθήμερο, την ώρα που ακόμη και χθες Σάββατο κατέγραφε νέο ρεκόρ σε ημερήσιο αριθμό κρουσμάτων νέου κορωνοϊού και θανάτων από την COVID-19, με τους οποίους ο συνολικός αριθμός των νεκρών από τότε που ξέσπασε η πανδημία ξεπέρασε το όριο των 10.000.
Έχοντας καταγράψει περισσότερα από 80.000 κρούσματα κορωνοϊού και σχεδόν 1.400 θανάτους από COVID-19 την εβδομάδα που πέρασε, η Πορτογαλία καταλαμβάνει αυτήν την περίοδο την πρώτη θέση παγκοσμίως σε αριθμό νέων κρουσμάτων και θανάτων σε σχέση με τον πληθυσμό της, καθώς την ξεπερνάει μόνον ο βρετανικός θύλακας του Γιβραλτάρ, σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία που συνέλεξε το AFP από τις εθνικές αρχές.

Deutsche Bank: sale of the Private & Commercial Business in Portugal to ABANCA successfully completed
On June 9, 2019 and as planned, Deutsche Bank (XETRA: DBKGn.DE/NYSE: DB) completed the sale of its Private & Commercial Business in Portugal to ABANCA Corporación Bancaria S.A. (ABANCA) that Deutsche Bank announced on March 27, 2018. Over the course of the previous weekend Deutsche Bank Portugal transferred the corresponding clients, assets and employees to ABANCA (Portugal).
With completion of the transaction, assets under management of EUR ~3bn, deposits of EUR ~1bn, and loans of EUR ~3 bn as well as approximately 330 FTE were transferred to ABANCA.
This step represents further progress by Deutsche Bank in executing its strategic objectives, in particular with respect to reducing complexity, costs and the number of full-time equivalent employees. At the same time, with the transaction Deutsche Bank is opening long-term prospects for both clients and employees in Portugal.
Deutsche Bank remains committed to its existing businesses, namely its Corporate & Investment Banking business, especially Global Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance and we will continue to provide banking services to our Portuguese and international corporate clients, financial institutions and government agencies.
