Janet Voûte to retire as a Bupa’s Non-Executive Director

Bupa announced that Janet Voûte will retire as a Non-Executive Director of Bupa on 31 December 2021, following completion of her second three-year term on the Board.
Roger Davis, Chairman of Bupa, said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Janet for her tremendous contribution to the Board and its committees over the last six years. In particular, Janet has supported, and been a strong advocate for, Bupa’s evolving customer and sustainability agendas. We wish her all the best for the future.”

Ecclesiastical appoints Rita Bajaj as non-executive director

Specialist financial services group Ecclesiastical has appointed Rita Bajaj as a non-executive director, effective from 15 July 2021.
Rita Bajaj head shot Rita joins the Ecclesiastical board with over 30 years of financial markets experience. She has held senior investment portfolio manager positions at Royal London and Invesco Perpetual and managed global and US equity vehicles for several major US investment institutions. Her most recent executive role was EMEA Chief Administrative Officer at the US custodian bank State Street Corporation. She joined State Street from the Financial Conduct Authority where, as a former regulator, she managed the supervision of large UK asset management and custodian firms. Currently, Rita is a Board and Investment Panel member for the London Pension Fund Authority (LPFA), an Independent Governance Member for Hargreaves Lansdown’s workplace SIPP Independent Governance Committee and Senior Advisor to Sheffield Haworth Ltd.Rita is a passionate advocate for improving investment outcomes for investors, which also embed ESG and sustainability considerations. Outside of work Rita is an ambassador for a charity focused on helping underprivileged children in India through sport, and was previously a business mentor to Prince’s Trust start-ups. Rita said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Ecclesiastical board. Appointment of Nilufer von Bismarck OBE as a non-executive director of Legal & General Group Plc

The Board of Legal & General Group Plc (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nilufer von Bismarck OBE as an independent non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 May 2021.
Nilufer is currently Head of the Financial Institutions Group and the Equity Capital Markets practice at Slaughter and May and has spent a large part of her 34-year career working with major international financial institutions. As well as a deep and extensive understanding of the financial services sector, Nilufer also has considerable experience across a range of other industries and sectors, including real estate, green infrastructure and fintech. Nilufer’s appointment will bring further expertise to the Board as the Company’s exposure to these industries and sectors increases.
The Company, as part of a continued focus on achieving best practice in governance, is also streamlining executive representation on the Board of the Company to ensure that there is always a substantial majority of independent non-executive directors. Accordingly, from today, only the Group Chief Executive and Group Chief Financial Officer will sit as executive directors on the Board of the Company. Kerrigan Procter, Chief Executive LGC, and Michelle Scrimgeour, Chief Executive LGIM, who were hitherto also executive directors of the Company, will otherwise continue in their executive roles.
