Aon Company NFP Acquires Northern California-Based Marin Financial Advisors

Wealthspire Advisors LLC, an NFP company and independent registered investment advisor with $31 billion in AUM1, has announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Marin Financial Advisors, a long-trusted boutique RIA based in Larkspur, California, with more than $380 million in assets under management. The addition reflects Wealthspire’s continued commitment to seeking out like-minded advisors who prioritize longstanding client relationships, thoughtful planning and delivering the highest level of service.
Led by Principal Colin Drake, Marin Financial Advisors has provided individuals and families with personalized financial guidance since 1987. Drake will continue serving clients alongside Client Service Director Christine Cione, ensuring a seamless transition with the same people, service and philosophy, supported by a broader team of professionals.
“From the first conversation, it was clear that Colin’s values align closely with ours,” said Mike LaMena, CEO of Wealthspire Advisors. “He brings a relationship-driven mindset and deep sense of client loyalty that reflect everything we believe in as a firm. We are honored to welcome him, his team and his clients to Wealthspire.”
“We’ve always shown up for our clients with care, attention and practical and personal advice,” said Drake. “This transition enables us to keep taking great care of them, while adding more support behind the scenes.”
Drake’s decision to join Wealthspire followed a period of reflection after the passing of Dave Shore, Drake’s business partner and founder of Marin Financial Advisors. “After losing Dave, I knew we needed a partner we could trust to help carry this work forward,” Drake added. “Having worked with the firm’s West Coast team (at predecessor firm Private Ocean) for over a decade, the team members are already like family, and I feel confident that this relationship honors the past while preparing us for the future.”
Through the transaction, Marin clients will gain access to expanded resources and expertise in trust and estate planning, tax and insurance guidance and investment research. Wealthspire also offers ongoing educational opportunities, including webinars, quarterly updates, and in-person events.
The deal strengthens Wealthspire’s presence in the Northern California market and builds upon existing relationships with the Marin Financial Advisors team. It reflects the firm’s broader strategy to partner with advisors who lead with empathy, guide their clients through all life stages and bring deep care to every relationship.

NFP, an Aon company, Acquires Miller Insurance Group, Expanding Commercial P&C Offerings in Indiana

NFP, an Aon company and leading property and casualty (P&C) broker, benefits consultant, wealth manager and retirement plan advisor, announced the acquisition of Richard S. Miller & Sons, Inc. dba Miller Insurance Group (MIG), a P&C and benefits agency with multiple offices in Indiana. Greg Miller, chairman of MIG, will join NFP as a senior vice president and report to Amanda Ruback, P&C managing director in NFP’s Central region. MIG co-owners Christian Barnes, Joe Stiles, Chad Miller and Ben Nehls will join as vice presidents and report to Greg Miller.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Greg and the MIG team to NFP,” said Ruback. “With their outstanding reputation and loyal customer base across Indiana, they will help us continue to grow our strong commercial P&C presence in the state. We’re welcoming talented new team members with exceptional expertise and middle-market experience who will partner well with our existing team in Indiana.”
The acquisition aligns with NFP’s strategic growth strategy, which includes Indiana. NFP acquired Indianapolis-based First Person, an employee benefits brokerage firm, in 2021, and City Securities Insurance, a full-service commercial P&C insurance consultant, in 2017, and has made significant hires in Indiana. MIG also brings additional capabilities and geographic reach to the northern part of the state.
Founded in 1937, MIG offers commercial property and casualty insurance and employee benefits to corporate clients and personal lines insurance in Indiana. For more than eight decades, the MIG team has built a strong reputation for serving clients through relationship building, excellent responsiveness and high-touch support, from crafting an insurance program to navigating claims.
“We are excited to join NFP and start another chapter in our successful history,” said Miller. “From the time my family started this agency, we’ve invested in our people and capabilities to bring clients the best solutions and service. As part of NFP, we can leverage their resources, expand our offerings and bring additional value to our clients by helping them address their risk mitigation needs in Indiana and beyond.”
