Jean-Marie Haquette takes over leadership of the branch office at HDI Global in France

On 1 September 2022, Jean-Marie Haquette will take over the executive management of the HDI Global SE branch office in France. Etienne de Varax is responsible for interim management of the branch until the new Managing Director takes up his position.
Subject to approval by the responsible regulatory authorities, Jean-Marie Haquette (photo) will take over as the successor to Florence Louppe, who left the company on 31 March 2022. The Frenchman by birth will continue the development and service strategy of HDI Global in France in order to ensure that customers and brokers derive maximum benefit from the great expertise of the industrial insurer in the French market.
Following on from more than thirty years of working for several international industrial insurers, Jean-Marie Haquette contributes a wealth of experience to his future function at HDI in France. Most recently, he was a Member of the Executive Committee of Chubb France. As their Underwriting Director, he was responsible for Claims, Engineering Risks, Marine, Liability and Specialty. Previously, he headed the French branch office of Mapfre Global Risks. Prior to that, Jean-Marie Haquette spent ten years working in various positions for Zurich Corporate Insurance, including posts as Country CFO & COO, and as Head of First Party Underwriting. Formerly, he had a stint with the Axa Group in primary and in reinsurance business. There he held posts as Casualty & Property Underwriter, as Risk Engineer and as Underwriting Manager Property.

Marsh announces future leadership positions within Financial and Professional Specialty

Marsh announced senior leadership appointments within its Financial and Professional (FINPRO) Specialty. Effective 1 January 2022, Paul Denny is appointed as Global Specialty Head, FINPRO, Marsh Specialty; Beth Thurston is appointed UK CEO of FINPRO business; and Stephanie Manson is appointed UK Management Liability Leader.
Based in London, Mr. Denny will also join the Marsh Specialty Global Executive Committee and report to Lucy Clarke, President, Marsh Specialty and Marsh Global Placement. Mr. Denny will work with the FINPRO leaders across eight global regions to ensure that clients benefit from the knowledge and experience of Marsh Specialty’s team of over 1350 financial lines insurance specialists worldwide.
Mr. Denny joined Marsh in 1989 and brings extensive global experience to the role of Global Head of FINPRO, having worked in the UK, US, and international insurance markets. Most recently, he served as CEO of FINPRO, UK, for three years, managing the management liability, financial services, professional liability, cyber, and specie risk teams. He also advised leading professional service firms and financial institutions, including numerous FTSE100 companies, on their professional risks programmes.
Ms. Thurston will succeed Mr. Denny as the CEO of FINPRO, UK. Based in London, she will report to Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO, UK, Marsh Specialty. A key member of Marsh Specialty’s UK FINPRO leadership, Ms. Thurston has worked for Marsh for 12 years and currently leads the UK Management Liability team. A Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales before joining Marsh, Ms. Thurston was an Of Counsel in a city law firm where she specialised in insurance and reinsurance litigation for more than 14 years.
Ms. Manson will succeed Ms. Thurston as UK Management Liability Leader. Based in London, she will report to Ms. Thurston. Ms. Manson joined Marsh in 2019 and is currently Chief Client Officer for Management Liability and Head of Directors’ and Officers’ Product. Before joining Marsh, Ms. Manson was Head of Commercial Institutions, UK, at AIG. She also previously worked as a lawyer in Washington D.C., specialising in insurance disputes.

Lloyd’s Insurance Company announces UK Branch leadership

Lloyd’s Insurance Company (LIC) has announced leadership appointments for its UK branch, Mark Cooper is appointed as Head of LIC UK Branch effective 1 November (subject to regulatory approvals). Mark will retain his current position of Head of European Branches and Chief Market Development Officer for LIC.  Mark replaces Keith Stern who has been the LIC UK Branch Manager since its establishment in 2018. Keith will continue to focus on his role as Regional Manager for UK and Ireland. In addition to Mark, David Jackson is appointed as Senior Underwriting Manager, LIC UK Branch; and Kirstie Keate is appointed as Underwriting Manager, LIC UK Branch, both effective 6 December 2021.
The LIC UK branch has been set up in 2018 and is benefiting currently of the Temporary Regime Permission, to carry out regulated activities in the UK whilst seeking regulatory authorisation, with expectations of completing the application for full authorisation by Q2, 2022.

Credit Agricole CIB enters intermodal finance sector and expands its leadership in shipping finance

Crédit Agricole CIB is pleased to confirm the signing of an agreement with ABN Amro for the acquisition of their US Shipping and Intermodal loan portfolios (already announced to the market by ABN Amro on the 12th July 2021), as well as a portion of their Asian Shipping loan portfolio.
This acquisition marks the entry of Crédit Agricole CIB in the Intermodal finance sector, a market that offers direct synergies with the bank’s existing ship-finance and rail-finance activities.

PartnerRe Ltd. Announces Changes to its Non-Life Structure and Leadership

PartnerRe announced today that the Company will change responsibilities in its executive leadership for Specialty Lines and will create the new role of CEO Global Cat.
Effective June 1, Philippe Meyenhofer will be appointed CEO Specialty Lines. Currently CEO P&C EMEA and member of the Executive Leadership Team, Mr. Meyenhofer joined the Company in August 2010 and held several leadership positions prior to his current role, most recently as Head of P&C Europe from July 2016 to April 2019.
Also effective June 1, Greg Haft will assume the role of CEO Global Cat, a newly created unit which will bring together our centrally managed Property Cat portfolio and the Group Cat technical functions of research, modeling and portfolio management. Mr. Haft, currently CEO Specialty Lines and member of the Executive Leadership Team, led PartnerRe’s Cat unit for 5 years as Head of Global Cat and Property North America, after joining the Company in 2013.

Christian Mitterer, currently Head of Specialty Casualty in P&C EMEA, will assume the role of Head of P&C EMEA, reporting to Emmanuel Clarke. Mr. Mitterer has been leading PartnerRe’s Specialty Casualty unit within P&C EMEA since 2016.
Nick Hughes, Head of Global Cat, will report to Mr. Haft and will be responsible for an expanded Cat portfolio, including US Cat as well as specific, large monoline relationships. Joe Hooks, head of the North America Cat team, will report to Mr. Hughes.
With these changes, the composition of the Company’s Executive Leadership Team remains the same.
