Brent Hoffman to Join Everest Reinsurance as Head of Claims and Chief Operations Officer

Everest Reinsurance, the reinsurance division of Everest Re Group, Ltd. announced Brent Hoffman will join the company as Senior Vice President, Head of Claims and Chief Operations Officer at the end of July. He will report directly to Jim Williamson, Everest Group Chief Operating Officer and Head of Reinsurance.
Hoffman will have dual responsibility for overseeing key aspects of business operations and leading the global Reinsurance Claims function. His deep technical expertise will help to drive operational efficiencies and best practices consistently across the organization.

Hoffman comes to Everest with more than 25 years of industry and legal experience and a proven track record for managing high-performing teams. Most recently, he was AXA XL’s Chief Claims Officer, responsible for leading its global claims strategy and operations to support claims excellence across multiple business lines and geographies. Prior to joining AXA XL, Hoffman held several leadership positions at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., where he led teams responsible for claims, litigation, and settlement strategies. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College and a Juris Doctor from The Dickinson School of Law. Hoffman currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the RAND Institute for Civil Justice and the Board of Trustees for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

Chubb Names Kevin Rampe Head of North America Claims

Chubb has named Kevin Rampe Head of Chubb North America Claims, succeeding Bill Hazelton, who has been appointed to a newly created role centered on a number of strategic initiatives in Chubb’s North America businesses.

Mr. Rampe previously served as Chubb’s Global Deputy General Counsel.  In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of Chubb’s North America commercial and personal lines claims. In addition, he will oversee efforts to provide claims insights to Chubb’s underwriters, clients, agents and brokers, as well as ensure client satisfaction in the handling of all claims.
Mr. Rampe will report to Mike Smith, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Global Claims Officer, and will be based in Jersey City, N.J.

As Executive Vice President, Mr. Hazelton will focus on executing a number of key strategic initiatives in North America. He will report to John Lupica, Vice Chairman, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance, and will be based in Whitehouse Station, N.J.

Mr. Rampe joined Chubb in 2005 as the company’s Global Compliance Officer. He subsequently served as General Counsel of North America. Earlier in his career, he served as both President and Chairman of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC). He was First Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department and served as the First Assistant Counsel to New York State Governor George E. Pataki. Mr. Rampe is a graduate of Union College and the Albany Law School of Union University. 
Mr. Hazelton joined Chubb in 2005 and has served in several leadership capacities. Prior to his former role as Head of Claims, he served as Chubb’s Environmental, Excess Casualty and Construction Industry Practice Leader. He received a Master of Arts degree in History from Rutgers University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and History from James Madison University.

DARAG hires Goss as new Head of Claims from TMK

Legacy acquirer DARAG has announced the appointment of Elliot Goss as Group Head of Claims.

With over 17 years of re/insurance experience, Goss has specialised in long tail classes such as International Casualty.
He most recently served as Head of Casualty and Specialty Claims at Tokio Marine Kiln, where he led the team in handling large and complex losses as well as portfolio management since 2018.
Prior to that Goss was at Ark Syndicate Management where he joined in 2012 as Senior Claims Adjuster and progressed to Head of Delegated and US casualty claims. He began his insurance career as claims consultant at Tawa Management Limited in 2003. Goss, a Chartered Insurer, gained his FCII in 2016.

Goss will be based in London and will join the company on 17th August.
