Thomas Stöckl hands over management of the Finance Department at HDI Global Specialty SE to Dr Christian Hermelingmeier

With effect from 1 March, Thomas Stöckl (48) will hand over management of the Finance Department at HDI Global Specialty to Dr Christian Hermelingmeier (42). The Supervisory Board already appointed Dr Hermelingmeier to the Executive Board of HDI Global Specialty SE as Managing Director as of 1 January 2023. Dr Hermelingmeier will carry out this function alongside his role as Chief Financial Officer at HDI Global SE. Thomas Stöckl will leave the company by best mutual consent in order to tackle new career challenges.
The departure of Thomas Stöckl opens up the opportunity for the two Finance Departments to work closer together. “We expect the uniform management to promote significant enhancement for the operational cooperation within Finance over the medium term, to contribute to improving our position with respect to the competition and assist us in achieving our ambitious goals,” commented Ulrich Wallin, Chairman of the Board of Directors at HDI Global Specialty SE. Dr Christian Hermelingmeier, an equally experienced financial expert, will lead the Finance Department of HDI Global Specialty SE.

Since 1 September 2020, Hermelingmeier has been Chief Financial Officer at HDI Global SE, and he was previously responsible for controlling in the Retail Germany segment of the Talanx Group. He gained experience in Industrial Lines insurance as Head of Operational Controlling at HDI Global SE from 2016 until the middle of 2018.
Thomas Stöckl is leaving the company after nine years. Over this period, he has worked in a variety of positions, including at Hannover Rück SE, Inter Hannover SE and HDI Global Specialty SE.

HDI Global Specialty SE appoints Managing Director for its Australian Branch

HDI Global Specialty (HDI) has announced that Mark Fleiser, formerly General Manager of its Australian operations, has been promoted to Managing Director of its Australian branch, effective immediately.
Fleiser has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has been employed by the Talanx group since 2009.
In his role as General Manager, Mark has successfully overseen the growth of the Australian operation, with it now being a significant contributor to the speciality lines insurer’s overall performance.

HDI Global Specialty has appointed Olga Candi to the role of General Manager to be the Head of its Branch Office in Milan

Olga has over nine years’ experience in the insurance industry and was previously Underwriter Co-ordinator for the branch. She replaces Paolo Volpi who has moved on to new challenges outside of the group.
The appointment will also see Alberto Bellomi, Managing Director of HDI Global SE in Italy take on the duties of Legal Representative for the HDI Global Specialty branch in support of its commercial transactions and operations.

HDI Global Specialty SE Italy partners with new Marine Hull and Cargo Agency

HDI Global Specialty SE’s Italy branch has announced a partnership with the newly established Genoa-based Marine Insurance Agency (MIA). The new underwriting agency will initially focus on Marine Hull and Cargo business placed locally.
The agency is controlled by the wider Cambiaso Risso Group, an insurance broker and shipping agency, and is led by Sergio Revello. Revello has extensive experience in the international Marine sector, across both broking and underwriting roles, some on behalf of Lloyd’s syndicates. He will be joined by Massimo Garbarino and Mario Rocca, who both join from the Generali Group.
General Manager of HDI Global Specialty SE’s Italy branch, Paolo Volpi, commented: “This venture will develop the HDI Global Specialty SE Marine portfolio, combining our innovative approach to risk solutions with Cambiaso Risso’s global network of relationships and specialist technical expertise.”
Established in March 2020, MIA is approved by the Italian Institute for the Supervision of Insurance (IVASS) and has already started writing business on behalf of HDI Global Specialty SE Italy.
