Chubb Appoints John DePeters as Head of Commercial Insurance and Specialty, Overseas General Insurance
Chubb announced that John DePeters has been appointed Executive Vice President, Head of Commercial Insurance and Specialty, for Chubb Overseas General Insurance (COG), the company’s international general insurance operations, effective January 1, 2026. He will be based in London.
In this role, John will oversee the performance and accelerate the global expansion of Chubb’s middle market, small commercial and specialty lines portfolios. By leveraging package and multi-line underwriting, portfolio management, advanced analytics and technology, he will work closely with regional leaders and teams to maximize growth and profitability.

John has over 13 years of insurance industry experience with Chubb, most recently serving as Chief Underwriting Officer for North America Small & Lower Midmarket. Prior to this role, John held a variety of international leadership positions, including Head of Middle Market & Small Commercial for Asia Pacific, Head of Cyber Product & Technology Industry Practice for Australia and New Zealand and Cyber Product Manager for Asia. He began his career in North America Financial Lines and Global Casualty underwriting, and holds a B.A. in Economics from Brown University.
Chubb Appoints Aaron Shead to Head of Property, Overseas General Insurance
Chubb announced that Aaron Shead has been appointed to Executive Vice President, Head of Property, for Chubb Overseas General Insurance (COG), the company’s international general insurance operations, effective immediately.
In his new role, Aaron will oversee the growth and profitability of Chubb’s fire, terrorism, power, and energy portfolios, and serve as the business leader for Property Major Accounts.

Aaron brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience with Chubb, having held leadership positions across the UK, Asia, and Bermuda. He most recently served as Head of Fire for COG.
CIB and AXA Egypt Sign a Five-Year Bancassurance Agreement to Provide General Insurance Plans Through the Bank’s Branches
Commercial International Bank (CIB), Egypt’s leading private sector bank, signed a five-year bancassurance agreement with AXA Egypt that will allow the company to offer general insurance products in 139 CIB branches during the first phase, expanding into all CIB branches by the end of 2023.
This agreement supports the longstanding partnership between CIB and AXA Egypt, having already signed an exclusive 10-year bancassurance agreement with AXA Life insurance to offer life, savings and health insurance products to CIB customers. It also allows AXA Egypt to benefit from CIB’s leading position and wide presence in the Egyptian market, enabling both institutions to provide the best banking and insurance solutions to customers across Egypt.
Through this agreement, AXA Egypt will offer a range of its insurance products to CIB customers, including general insurance plans, such as car, property, and accident insurance, allowing them to choose between Safe Home for home protection, Safe Business for workplace protection as well as commercial and production assets protection and Auto Go and Auto Highline car insurance plans.“We are proud of our bancassurance agreement with CIB and are confident that it will help the Bank further expand its customer base by providing various insurance coverages through all CIB branches, enabling the Bank’s customers to obtain insurance for everything they care about in one visit,” said Ayman Kandeel, the Managing Director of AXA Life Insurance Egypt and Chairman of AXA General Insurance. “This collaboration falls in line with AXA Egypt’s strategy to always provide comprehensive insurance coverages that meet customers’ needs,” he added.

AIG Appoints David McElroy Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance, and Executive Vice President, AIG
American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) announced that David McElroy, currently President and Chief Executive Officer of the North American operations of General Insurance, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance, and Executive Vice President, AIG, effective immediately.
Mr. McElroy will lead the General Insurance Executive Leadership Team and join the AIG Executive Leadership Team, reporting to Peter S. Zaffino, AIG’s President and Global Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Zaffino said, “Dave has played an instrumental role in the turnaround of our General Insurance business and the positioning of AIG as a market leader. Mr. McElroy joined AIG as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lexington Insurance Company in October 2018 and was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of North America, General Insurance in June 2019. Before joining AIG, Mr. McElroy held numerous leadership roles within the insurance industry, including Executive Chairman of Arch Insurance Group Inc. and Vice Chairman of Arch Worldwide Insurance Group.

Ecclesiastical has announced Richard Coleman as managing director of its UK general insurance business.
Richard Coleman, whose career began at Eagle Star before he spent 18 years at Zurich, is currently European director and global head of insurance & assistance at Collinson. He is also an advisory board member at artificial intelligence insurtech Cytora.
“I’m excited to be joining Ecclesiastical,” said Coleman, whose appointment is subject to regulatory approval. “It’s a strong and successful business with a great track record, and the potential and ambition to do more in a fast-changing market.
