MS Amlin expands in Asia Pacific with double hires

S Amlin Underwriting Limited (MS AUL), the Lloyd’s global (re)insurer, announced the appointments of Teh Ee Voon as Reinsurance Underwriter and Tan See Yee as Technical Business Analyst at MS Amlin Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (MS AAP) in Singapore. Teh Ee Voon reports to Will Ho, CEO, MS Amlin Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and Tan See Yee reports to Mary Weston, Head of Asia Operations & Reinsurance Claims.
Ee Voon’s role is multi-disciplinary, spanning both underwriting and actuarial. She joins from Willis Re where she has been a Senior Actuarial Analyst since 2018.
See Yee will support the transformation efforts across all functions of the Singapore platform in his new position. He has been promoted and transferred from MS Amlin’s Kuala Lumpur operation where was a Claims Adjuster for four years.

Dolphin Marine Group successfully expands in Djibouti despite the pandemic

Dolphin Marine Group, a leader in maritime safety equipment and services, has opened its new office in Djibouti, after successfully capturing markets in Egypt and Dubai. This move was made despite the COVID-19 pandemic that impacted the global marine industry and led to an economic downturn.
The new office in Djibouti will be a one-stop-shop, providing an array of safety and inspection services. The company will carry out works including inspection of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), safety equipment, and Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) onboard the boat. The new division will offer servicing, repair work, and maintenance of boat parts and provide replacement of damaged parts for all leading brands in the market. It will also offer additional services in the form of resuscitators, medical oxygen systems, foam concentrate analysis, and more, showcasing its vast offerings and solidifying its leading status in the industry.
Building on key strengths

Offering a host of services
As part of their Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) services, the company will initiate examination of lifeboats, rescue boats, davits and winches, immersion suits, rescue equipment, life jackets, and medical oxygen systems. In terms of safety equipment, the expert team at Dolphin Marine will conduct servicing and repair works of Breathing Air Apparatus (SCBA), Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBD), breathing air cylinders, firemen’s outfits, and will also test air quality by analysing breathing air compressors. Moreover, the company will survey and carry out maintenance works of Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) as well by testing CO2 high-and-low-pressure systems, galley systems, wet chemical systems, paint locker systems, and foam systems.
El Bagouri explained, “The new branch will not only continue to perform periodic inspection of LSAs, safety equipment, and FFEs, but will also provide services such as repair, maintenance, and replacement of damaged parts of the boats. In addition to maintenance work, we will also perform water analysis, portable and fixed gas detector calibration, and bilge alarm tests.”

Zurich Expands Marine Insurance Platform into Additional Countries, Regions

Zurich Insurance Group is expanding the roll-out of a new marine insurance platform for small and medium cargo, following its successful introduction in selected markets around the world.
The Zurich Swift Insurance Platform provides intuitive, web-based access to insurance that users can tailor to their needs, said the company. The Zurich Swift Insurance Platform uses automation technologies to allow marine insurance brokers and intermediaries to manage the full policy lifecycle for single shipment and annual cargo insurance policies. This includes receiving quotes, checking existing trade & economic sanctions, binding and renewing policies, making mid-term adjustments and issuing certificates.
The platform was launched in selected markets in 2019, including Spain, Germany, Singapore and Mexico. As a result of the very positive feedback, Zurich plans to make it available in additional countries and regions, including North America, the Nordics and further countries in Latin America later this year.Marine insurance requirements have changed with the expansion of international trade. While globalization gives a growing number of companies the opportunity to ship goods worldwide, it creates more complex supply chains and risk exposures that can impact the ability to deliver goods safely, Zurich explained.

Vienna Insurance expands business to northern Europe

Vienna Insurance Group is set to expand its operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland as parts of its strategy to further bolster its footprint in Europe, setting up offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo.
The austrian company has developed a team of underwriters to provide insurance solutions to corporate customers through brokers in these markets.
Vienna Insurance Group CEO Elisabeth Stadler said: “For the Vienna Insurance Group, the expansion of operations in Northern Europe means the targeted use of specific business opportunities in markets.
“However, we are still clearly committed to a strategy focused on Central and Eastern Europe, which has involved organic growth as well as the acquisition of existing insurers, or setting up new companies.

In March this year, Vienna Insurance acquired Gothaer Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń (Gothaer TU) to strengthen its non-life insurance business in Poland.
In February, the Austrian insurer acquired certain stake in mutual insurance association Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Wzajemnych “TUW” through InterRisk.
Vienna Insurance concluded the merger of bancassurance companies Pojišťovna České sporitelny and Kooperativa in Czech Republic in January.
