Chubb Appoints John Thompson Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President of International Personal Lines

Chubb Limited announced that John Thompson has been appointed Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President of International Personal Lines. The company also named Daniela Hernandez Division President of International Accident & Health (A&H). Both divisions are part of Overseas General Insurance, the company’s international general insurance business that operates in 51 countries and territories. Mr. Thompson and Ms. Hernandez’s new roles are effective June 1 and both will report to Juan Luis Ortega, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, Overseas General Insurance.
Currently, Mr. Thompson serves as Division President, International A&H. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading Chubb’s division that provides a broad range of traditional and specialty personal lines insurance products to targeted customer segments. Mr. Thompson will succeed Darryl Page, Vice President, Chubb Group, who is retiring following a 10-year career with the company. Mr. Page will remain with Chubb through July 1 and will work with Mr. Thompson to ensure a smooth transition.
Ms. Hernandez, who is succeeding Mr. Thompson, currently leads Chubb’s Life and A&H business in Chile, including the company’s strategic partnership with Banco de Chile. In her new role, she will be responsible for the company’s international personal accident, supplemental health and travel insurance businesses.
“John is taking on the leadership of our international personal lines business after five years leading our international A&H business, contributing to the establishment of several strategic partnerships around the world and evolving our digital strategies. He successfully navigated the complexities brought on by the pandemic, ultimately providing Chubb with a stronger A&H franchise,” said Mr. Ortega.

Mr. Thompson joined the company, then named ACE, in 2012 as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for International Personal Lines, playing a leading role in advancing the company’s global consumer product and geographic diversification strategy with a focus on auto, residential and high net worth portfolios. He started his career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Mr. Thompson holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Utah State University and an MBA degree from the Yale School of Management.
Ms. Hernandez joined ACE as a financial lines underwriter in 2014. Prior to her current role, she has held leadership positions in Latin America as chief of staff for the region and head of A&H distribution in Mexico. Ms. Hernandez holds a double Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Trade and International Business Administration from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and has completed post graduate work in Risk and Information Economics at La Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
Chubb Appoints Fran O’Brien Deputy Chief Risk Officer; Ana Robic Named Division President, North America Personal Risk Services

Chubb Limited announced that Fran O’Brien has been appointed Deputy Chief Risk Officer. Currently, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, North America Personal Risk Services, Ms. O’Brien in her new global role will help support all Chubb’s enterprise risk management activities including strategy, management framework and related processes across the company.
Ana Robic, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer, North America Personal Risk Services, has been named Vice President, Chubb Group and will succeed Ms. O’Brien as Division President. In this capacity, Ms. Robic will have executive operating responsibility for the personal lines property and casualty insurance business that serves successful families and individuals in the United States and Canada.
The appointments are effective January 1, 2022. Ms. O’Brien will report to Sean Ringsted, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and Chief Digital Officer and Chief Risk Officer. Ms. Robic will report to John Lupica, Vice Chairman, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance.

Ms. O’Brien has more than 35 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to ACE’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, she was Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer of Chubb Corporation, with global responsibility and oversight for identifying, measuring, monitoring and minimizing operational, financial and strategic risks across the organization. Ms. O’Brien was appointed Senior Vice President, Chubb Group in 2016, a title she retains. She joined Chubb as an actuarial trainee in 1980 and served in a number of positions of increasing responsibility in actuarial, product development and underwriting, including Chubb Personal Insurance (CPI) Chief Underwriting Officer, CPI Chief Underwriting Officer for International Business, and CPI Worldwide Underwriting Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Villanova University.
Ms. Robic has more than two decades of insurance experience in personal and commercial underwriting and management. Prior to her current role as Chief Operating Officer of North America Personal Risk Services, which she assumed in 2017, Ms. Robic served as Executive Vice President, National Commercial Insurance Leader for Canada. She has also provided leadership across multiple lines of business and industry segments including leading the Canadian Underwriting Center and the excess and umbrella division for the region. Ms. Robic joined the Chubb Corporation in 1999. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Queen’s University.
