Credit Suisse expands Wealth Management in Germany and appoints Sven Stephan to lead local Wealth Management team

Credit Suisse is expanding its Wealth Management business in Germany, with a focus on Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) and entrepreneurial clients as well as sophisticated family offices. Sven Stephan has been appointed to lead and build the new onsite dedicated Wealth Management team of Credit Suisse (Deutschland) AG.
Credit Suisse wealth management clients in Germany will now have on-the-ground advisors, based in Frankfurt, experienced in serving clients with institutional-like needs, while also still having access to the bank’s extensive booking and solution capabilities in Switzerland. The dedicated team will also collaborate closely with the local investment banking and asset management teams.

Prior to joining Credit Suisse (Deutschland) AG in 2021 as Managing Director, Sven Stephan led HSBC Deutschland’s Private Banking team. He has 23 years of experience in banking, 17 of which are in wealth management, is based in Frankfurt and reports to Dr. Frank Heitmann and functionally to Mischa Tschopp, Market Area Head of Germany.
Credit Suisse: Αποχωρεί από το ΔΣ ο αντιπρόεδρος της εταιρείας

Δεν θα είναι υποψήφιος για επανεκλογή στο ΔΣ ο αντιπρόεδρος της Credit Suisse, Severin Schwan, ανακοίνωσε η ελβετική τράπεζα, καθώς έχει προτείνει τον Christian Gellerstad ως διάδοχό του.
Το ΔΣ της τράπεζας πρότεινε ακόμα τους Mirko Bianchi, Keyu Jin, Amanda Norton ως μη εκτελεστικά μέλη, ενώ οι Kai S. Nargolwala και Juan Colombas δεν θα είναι υποψήφιοι για επανεκλογή στην ετήσια γενική συνέλευση της 29ης Απριλίου.
Credit Suisse: Ζημιογόνο το 2021 λόγω πολυέξοδων δικαστικών διακανονισμών

Με ζημίες πάνω από τις προβλέψεις των αναλυτών έκλεισε το 2021 για την Credit Suisse, σύμφωνα με τα αποτελέσματα που ανακοίνωσε η δεύτερη μεγαλύτερη τράπεζα της Ελβετίας.
Πιο συγκεκριμένα, οι ζημίες έφτασαν τα 1,57 δισ. ελβετικά φράγκα (1,7 δισ. δολάρια), την ώρα που οι αναλυτές ανέμεναν ζημίες 377,95 εκατ. φράγκων.
Για το δ΄ τρίμηνο του 2021, οι ζημίες της τράπεζας ανήλθαν σε 2,01 δισ. ελβετικά φράγκα έναντι εκτίμησης των αναλυτών για ζημίες 25,73 εκατ. ελβετικών φράγκων.
Η διοίκηση της Credit Suisse αναφέρει πως για το σύνολο του 2021 κατέβαλε 1,1 δισ. ελβετικά φράγκα σε δικαστικούς διακανονισμούς.
Υπενθυμίζεται ότι το 2021 χαρακτηρίστηκε από την παραίτηση του προέδρου της τράπεζας, Αντόνιο Όρτα – Οσόριο (Antonio Horta-Osório), που αποχώρησε από την Credit Suisse, αφού βρέθηκε να έχει παραβιάσει μέτρα καραντίνας για τον κορωνοϊό.
Επίσης, η ελβετική τράπεζα είχε βρεθεί στο επίκεντρο επικρίσεων για τη συμμετοχή της στο σκάνδαλο του fund Archegos Capital.
Για το 2022, η τράπεζα αναμένει πως θα είναι μεταβατικό έτος, καθώς προχωρεί με τις στρατηγικές αλλαγές που έχει επιλέξει. Για τον τρέχον έτος, τα αποτελέσματα της Credit Suisse θα επηρεαστούν από έξοδα που θα προκύψουν από την αναδιάρθρωση και τις αποζημιώσεις που θα παραχωρήσει η τράπεζα.

Credit Suisse announces the appointment of Joseph Wolf as CEO of Credit Suisse Financial Services (Israel) Ltd., subject to the relevant approvals, as of April 4, 2022.

Joseph Wolf brings some 27 years of banking experience, with a focus on the Israeli technology sector. Most recently in his 14 years with Barclays, Joseph was Deputy Director of US Equity Research in New York where he was on the Research Executive Committee and Investment Policy Committee. Prior to that he led a number of research teams in Israel for Barclays, Lehman Brothers and UBS. Joseph has an MBA and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.

Οι αλλαγές έρχονται μετά από τις 200 καθαρές προσλήψεις στις οποίες προχώρησε η Credit Suisse για την εν λόγω περιοχή, η οποία περιλαμβάνει την Κίνα, στο α΄ μισό του 2021, επιβεβαίωσε ο εκπρόσωπος.
Η τράπεζα υπέστη πλήγμα από τις αποχωρήσεις στελεχών ανά τον κόσμο που έλαβαν χώρα στις αρχές του έτους, εξαιτίας του σκανδάλου με το Archegos και το Greensill Capital.
Ο Sanjeev Chaurasia θα τεθεί επικεφαλής της βιομηχανικής και ανανεώσιμων πηγών επενδυτικής τραπεζικής στην περιοχή, αναφέρει το memo.
Στη ΝΑ Ασία ο Pankaj Goel θα αποχωρήσει από την Credit Suisse στο τέλος του 2021 μετά από 17 έτη.

Credit Suisse: Πτώση σχεδόν 80% για τα κέρδη β΄ τριμήνου

Πτώση σχεδόν 80% κατέγραψαν τα κέρδη β΄ τριμήνου της Credit Suisse στο β΄ τρίμηνο κυρίως εξαιτίας των ζημιών 5,5 δισ. δολαρίων στο επενδυτικό Fund Archegos.
Τα καθαρά κέρδη διαμορφώθηκαν στα 253 εκατ. φράγκα (278,45 εκατ. δολάρια), έναντι εκτιμήσεων για 334 εκατ. φράγκα.
Όπως ανέφερε ο διευθύνων σύμβουλος Thomas Gottstein: «Η Credit Suisse εμφάανισε ανθεκτικά αποτελέσματα β΄ τριμήνου και ισχυρούς δείκτες κεφααλαίου, καθώς επωφελούμαστε από τη λήψη αποφασιστικών μέτρων για την αντιμετώπιση των προκλήσεων που δημιούργησε το θέμα του Archegos και το Supply Finance Funds.
Παίρνουμε πολύ στα σοβαρά αυτά τα δύο γεγονότα και είμαστε αποφασισμένοι να μάθουμε τα κατάλληλα διδάγματα».
Οι αναλυτές ανέμεναν τα καθαρά κέρδη β΄ τριμήνου να πέσουν στο ένα τέταρτο της αξίας τους σε σχέση με το περασμένο έτος, λόγω μιας «τρύπας» 600 εκατ. δολ. περίπου που προκλήθηκε από τις ζημιές από το Archegos και την περαιτέρω εξασθένιση των συμβουλευτικών δραστηριοτήτων.
Floriana Scarlato to leave Credit Suisse

Floriana Scarlato has decided to leave Credit Suisse to pursue a new challenge outside the bank. She will step down from her role as Head of Compliance Swiss Universal Bank (SUB), as a member of the Management Committee of the SUB and from the Executive Board of Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd. with immediate effect.
Scarlato joined Credit Suisse in 2005 and held a number of important leadership roles during her tenure. She built up a global Compliance organization in International Wealth Management (IWM) and acted as Head of Cross Border & Client Confidentiality for Private Banking. Between 2013 and 2015, Scarlato served as Head of Private Banking & Wealth Management Business Risk Management. In her most recent role as Chief Compliance Officer SUB, she effectively managed and mitigated compliance risks for the division. Further, Scarlato served as a member of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Italy S.p.A, and she was a member of the Supervisory Board of Credit Suisse Deutschland AG.
Floriana Scarlato’s successor will be announced in due course.
Credit Suisse appoints Janice Hu as CEO of China

Credit Suisse is pleased to announce that it has appointed Janice Hu as CEO of China, as the bank continues to expand its franchise and presence in mainland China. The appointment is with immediate effect.Carsten Stoehr, CEO of Greater China at Credit Suisse, said: “China is a strategically important market for Credit Suisse, both in the Asia Pacific region and globally. We firmly believe in the long term prospects for China with its continued liberalization, and are committed to investing in this important market. Our aim is to bring the best of Credit Suisse’s integrated advisory services and solutions to clients in China, leveraging our global platform and our position as a leading global wealth manager with strong investment banking capabilities.”
As part of the next phase of our strategy, Ms. Hu, in her new role as CEO of China, will continue to drive our onshore business and regulatory activities with the objectives to further increase our presence, set up a comprehensive platform, and enhance Credit Suisse’s position. She will work closely with Credit Suisse’s leadership team across Asia Pacific and Greater China to capitalize on collaboration opportunities.
Ms. Hu has an outstanding professional track-record, with over 25 years of experience in the financial markets in China. During her 20-year tenure at Credit Suisse, she has held various senior roles across our China franchise, including Vice Chairwoman of Credit Suisse China and Head of China Investment Banking. In her capacity as Vice Chairwoman of China, Ms. Hu was instrumental in Credit Suisse becoming a majority shareholder of our China securities joint venture in June 2020.
Last week, Credit Suisse renamed its China securities joint venture as Credit Suisse Securities (China) Limited, marking another major step in the bank’s ongoing build-out of its China franchise. Over the past year in mainland China, Credit Suisse has recruited more than 60 professionals across all businesses and corporate functions.
The appointment of Mr. Hu follows the departure of Zhenyi Tang, who is leaving Credit Suisse to pursue other opportunities outside the financial services sector.

Credit Suisse’s journey in China began more than 60 years ago when it started a correspondent banking relationship with the Bank of China in the 1950s. Credit Suisse was the first Swiss bank to open a representative office in Beijing in 1985, and subsequently opened its Shanghai Bank Branch. Over the years, Credit Suisse has built a strong Greater China business, with a market-leading franchise across private banking, equities, and investment banking and capital markets.
In addition to the securities joint venture, Credit Suisse has an asset management joint venture – ICBC Credit Suisse Asset Management Co. Ltd. – which is among the largest in China, with total assets under management of nearly RMB 1.4 trillion as of the end of December 2020.
Credit Suisse Group appoints Joanne Hannaford as Chief Technology & Operations Officer and a member of the Executive Board

Credit Suisse Group AG announced the appointment of Joanne Hannaford as Chief Technology & Operations Officer and a member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse Group, effective January 1, 2022.
Mrs. Hannaford joins from Goldman Sachs, bringing deep technical expertise, creativity and strong leadership acquired in a global setting over the past three decades. Joanne will be based in Zürich and report directly to the Group CEO, Thomas Gottstein. James Walker, the current Chief Operating Officer, will continue in his role until the end of the year.
As of January 1, 2022, James will become the deputy CEO of Credit Suisse Holdings (USA), Inc. and be based in USA for family reasons. James will focus on ensuring that we operate our US businesses in a controlled and efficient manner.
Sir António Horta-Osório, Chairman of Credit Suisse, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Joanne to Credit Suisse, where she will drive the IT and digital strategy of the bank. Mrs. Hannaford has held a number of senior roles across Goldman Sachs Engineering in London and New York, including co-head of Enterprise platforms and global head of resiliency. Most recently Mrs. Hannaford has been instrumental in defining the EMEA Engineering location strategy and leading significant change programs. She was named managing director in 2008 and partner in 2014. She served as a member of the Goldman Sachs Engineering Executive Group.
Joanne Hannaford started her career at Merrill Lynch after graduating with a First Class Bachelor of Science degree from Staffordshire University. She was awarded the Professor Michaelson Award for outstanding research in Computer Science. Mrs. Hannaford serves on the UK Government Digital Service Advisory Board, Chairs the Bank of England CIO Forum (CMORG) and is a member of the Royal Society Science, Industry and Translation Committee. In 2020 she received the Women in Banking and Finance Award for Achievement.
