Ο Χρήστος Προκοπίου αναλαμβάνει καθήκοντα Chief Underwriting Officer στην Karavias
Στη διοικητική δομή της Karavias εντάσσεται ο Χρήστος Προκοπίου από τις 12 Μαϊου, αναλαμβάνοντας καθήκοντα Chief Underwriting Officer.
Με εμπειρία περισσότερη των 23 χρόνων στην ασφαλιστική αγορά, εξειδίκευση που καλύπτει όλους τους βασικούς τομείς της ασφάλισης και μέσα από διοικητικές και διευθυντικές θέσεις, ο Χρήστος Προκοπίου θα είναι υπεύθυνος για την στρατηγική ανάπτυξη του Underwriting της Εταιρείας, εντοπίζοντας νέες αγορές, δημιουργώντας νέα ανταγωνιστικά προϊόντα και βελτιστοποιώντας το υπάρχον χαρτοφυλάκιο της Karavias.

Χρήστος Προκοπίου ξεκίνησε την επαγγελματική του πορεία στον ναυτιλιακό τομέα το 2002 και εισήλθε στον ασφαλιστικό κλάδο ένα χρόνο αργότερα. Διαθέτει περισσότερα από 23 χρόνια εμπειρίας στον κλάδο, εκ των οποίων τα 17 σε διοικητικές και διευθυντικές θέσεις, ηγούμενος ομάδων σε λειτουργίες και γραμμές προϊόντων. Η εξειδίκευσή του καλύπτει όλους τους βασικούς τομείς της ασφάλισης — Ναυτασφαλίσεις, Ασφάλιση Φορτίων, Περιουσίας, Γενικών Αστικών Ευθυνών, Ευθύνης, Αεροπορικών Κινδύνων και Ειδικών Κινδύνων — καθώς και τη χρηματοοικονομική διαχείριση. Διαθέτει επίσης εκτενή γνώση της αντασφάλισης, ιδιαίτερα στον ναυτιλιακό τομέα.
Είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου B.Sc. στα Μαθηματικά με κατεύθυνση στην Ασφάλιση και MBA στη Τραπεζική και Χρηματοοικονομική από το Πανεπιστήμιο Bangor της Ουαλίας. Παράλληλα με την επαγγελματική του σταδιοδρομία, έχει αναπτύξει μια διακεκριμένη 19ετή πορεία ως καθηγητής και ομιλητής, παραδίδοντας διαλέξεις και σεμινάρια σε Μαθηματικά, Στατιστική, Μακροοικονομία, Μικροοικονομία και Ναυτασφαλίσεις.

AXA XL names new Chief Underwriting Officer for Middle Market, Canada
AXA XL has appointed Arti Rawal as Chief Underwriting Officer – Middle Market, Canada. Ms. Rawal leads the newly established Middle Market team in Canada and reports to Matthew Waters, Head of Middle Market, Americas. She is based in Toronto.
“Arti’s strong market relations and experience in building teams, developing products and managing a profitable business will be instrumental as we look to build our business in Canada,” Mr. Waters said.
Ms. Rawal joins AXA XL from Zurich Canada, where she was vice president, Middle Market, for the Ontario Region.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Ms. Rawal has served in a variety of roles and lines of business – including construction, excess/surplus and middle market – in the U.S. and Canada with CNA Insurance and Travelers Canada.
Ms. Rawal will work closely with Alex Barker, who earlier this year was named Chief Underwriting Officer – Large Commercial, Canada.
Liberty Mutual Insurance appoints Rachel Conran Chief Underwriting Officer, Liberty Specialty Markets
Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Global Risk Solutions division (GRS) announced the appointment of Rachel Conran as Chief Underwriting Officer, Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), effective January 1, 2023. LSM is the international commercial, specialty and reinsurance business of Liberty Mutual.
Conran will report to Matthew Moore, President, GRS Office of Underwriting, and Phil Hobbs, President and Managing Director of LSM.
She will be based in Cologne, Germany and will be responsible for underwriting performance across LSM.
“Rachel’s proven specialty underwriting and leadership skills, together with her track record of delivering impressive underwriting performance, made her the ideal candidate for the role,” said Hobbs. “Her expertise, passion and collaboration will add value to clients and brokers.”
Moore added: ““Our ambition when we created the GRS Office of Underwriting was to build a team of talented leaders who can drive results through underwriting excellence, consistent global product strategies and a common view of risk. Rachel’s appointment completes the GRS team of chief underwriting officers. We will focus on bringing LSM’s expertise and offerings to help clients and brokers across GRS manage complex risks.”
Conran joins from Intact Financial Corporation, where she most recently served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of RSA Luxembourg. She has held senior management and chief underwriting roles at leading global insurers, successfully managing sizeable global portfolios of complex products and driving underwriting profitability, financial planning, and strategy.
Lloyd’s Europe announces Bertrand Heugues as Chief Underwriting Officer
Lloyd’s Europe has confirmed the appointment of Bertrand Heugues as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) responsible for overseeing the strategic direction for underwriting, delegated authority management, claims and reinsurance business. Effective 14 July, Bertrand joins Lloyd’s Europe from Ageas in Brussels where he was Global Head of Pricing and Underwriting.
He has more than 18 years’ experience in the insurance industry as a non-life actuary with a wide range and depth of experience in underwriting, pricing, and risk and portfolio management.
Heugues began his career in 2005 as a commercial lines underwriter at Axa and then moved to Marsh where he was an alternative risk transfer advisor, responsible for structuring and negotiating tailor-made solutions for major customer segments and captive clients worldwide. He has also held a number of senior positions at Generali, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A) manager in France and chief technical officer in Belgium.
He joined Ageas in 2015 as the Global Head of Pricing and Underwriting and then became the non-life deputy Chief Operating Officer in Portugal responsible for pricing, underwriting, claims and policy administration. He was also the head of ESG.

Papadopoulo Promoted to President, Chief Underwriting Officer of Arch Capital Group
Arch Capital Group Ltd. (ACGL) announced that Nicolas Papadopoulo will be promoted to the position of president and chief underwriting officer, effective Jan. 1, 2021.
Papadopoulo joined Arch in 2001 and currently serves as chairman and CEO of Arch Worldwide Insurance Group and chief underwriting officer for Property and Casualty Operations.

In his expanded role, Papadopoulo will continue to report to Marc Grandisson, CEO of ACGL, and will have responsibility for Arch’s three operating segments – Insurance, Reinsurance and Mortgage – as well as oversight of the Strategy and Innovation team.
Papadopoulo has held his current role since September 2017. Previously he was chairman and chief executive officer of Arch Reinsurance Group. Papadopoulo graduated from École Polytechnique in France and École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique in France with a master’s degree in statistics. He is also a Member of the International Actuarial Association and a Fellow at the French Actuarial Society.
“Nicolas has a strong understanding of our businesses and, by aligning our three segments under his leadership, we will benefit from additional focus and coordination as our company continues its growth trajectory.
