Allianz SE Announces Updates to its Board of Management

The Supervisory Board of Allianz SE today announced the following leadership updates to the Allianz SE Board of Management:
The mandate of Oliver Bäte, 58, as Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of Allianz SE has been renewed and extended through the Annual Shareholders Meeting in 2028.
The mandate of Andreas Wimmer, 49, as Member of the Board of Management responsible for Life and Asset Management has been renewed and extended for a period of five years.
Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre, 48, currently the Chief Actuary and Head of Planning & Controlling of Allianz SE and previously the CFO and deputy CEO of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, has been appointed as Member of the Board of Management effective January 1, 2024, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Ms. Coste-Lepoutre will succeed Giulio Terzariol, 51, who will be granted a release from his mandate as a member of the Board of Management so that he may pursue a career opportunity outside of the company in his home country. His mandate was slated for renewal at the end of 2025, and Ms. Coste-Lepoutre has been working with Mr. Terzariol on the smooth transition of his responsibilities.

Change in Munich Re’s Board of Management

The Supervisory Board of Munich Re has appointed Dr. Thomas Blunck (aged 57) as the Chair of the Reinsurance Committee of the Group’s Board of Management with effect from 1 January 2023. He will succeed Dr. Torsten Jeworrek (61), who will step down from the Board of Management of Munich Re on 31 December 2022 at his own request. The Supervisory Board has also appointed Clarisse Kopff (49), with effect from 1 December 2022, and Mari-Lizette Malherbe (38), with effect from 1 January 2023, as new members of the Board of Management. Clarisse Kopff will head the Europe and Latin America Non-life division. Mari-Lizette Malherbe will take over responsibility for the Life and Health division from Thomas Blunck. “Torsten Jeworrek’s contribution to our company has been extraordinary. I very much look forward to working closely with Mari-Lizette Malherbe, Clarisse Kopff and Thomas Blunck in their new roles,” said CEO Dr. Joachim Wenning.
Blunck joined the Board of Management in 2005. In addition to becoming the Chair of the Reinsurance Committee, he will also chair the Global Underwriting and Risk Committee. On the Board of Management, he will also be responsible for Data and Analytics, Internet of Things, Corporate Underwriting, Claims, Accounting, Reinsurance Development, Controlling and Central Reserving for Reinsurance, and Information Technology. Stefan Golling will take responsibility for Capital Partners on the Board of Management.
Originally from France, Clarisse Kopff has been with the Allianz Group for the past 21 years. She is currently based in Paris, where she works as Allianz Trade’s Chief Executive Officer. She was previously CFO at Allianz France and Euler Hermes.
South African-born Mari-Lizette Malherbe has been with Munich Re since 2007, and to date headed the Life and Health Reinsurance Europe and Latin America divisional unit from London.
Torsten Jeworrek has been with the company for a total of 32 years and has been a member of the Board of Management for two decades. The Board of Management and the Supervisory Board would like to thank him for his many years of outstanding service at Munich Re.

ERGO Group expands Board of Management

The Supervisory Board of ERGO Group AG has appointed Dr Lena Lindemann (41) to the company’s Board of Management with effect from 1 July 2022. In addition to her role as Labour Director, Dr Lindemann will take over responsibility for Human Resources Germany, Human Resources International and General Services from Dr Ulf Mainzer (56). Dr Mainzer will continue to be responsible for Legal and Data Protection, Purchasing, Compliance as well as the Corporate Office and will focus on the further increasing regulatory and legal requirements. The appointment of Dr Lindemann is subject to approval by the supervisory authorities.
“With Lena Lindemann, we are gaining a recognised expert and valued personality for our Executive Board. She will consistently continue the initiated transformation of the HR department, further advance the development of the employer brand and prepare the company for the further digitalisation of the world of work,” said Dr Markus Rieß, Chairman of the Executive Board, explaining the expansion of the Executive Board.
The doctor of law has been with the Group since 2017 and is currently Head of HR Business Management at ERGO Group AG in Düsseldorf. Previously, she worked as a lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP.

Supervisory Board appoints Caroline Schlienkamp as a Member of the Board of Management of Talanx AG

Caroline Schlienkamp takes over the new division for Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, Procurement and Internal Services
From July, additional appointment as Director of Labour Relations with responsibility for the operational personnel function
Caroline Schlienkamp has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Management of Talanx AG with effect from 1 May 2022, subject to agreement by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). She will head a newly created division for the areas Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, Procurement and Internal Services on the Board and from 1 July she will additionally be responsible for the operational personnel function as Director of Labour Relations.
The Board Division headed by Caroline Schlienkamp will for the first time combine the functions of Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, Procurement, Internal Services and later on Human Resources in a central function. The responsibility for Procurement and Internal Services is currently with Dr Edgar Puls alongside his responsibility for the Industrial Lines Division. The Board Member Dr Christopher Lohmann heading the Retail Germany Division is responsible for Data Protection. The CEO and Director of Labour Relations, Torsten Leue, is currently responsible for Legal and Compliance, and Human Resources.

As part of its diversity strategy, the Talanx Group defined a target of appointing a woman as a Member of the Board of Management at the latest by 30 June 2022.
At the moment, Caroline Schlienkamp is heading the areas Internal Services and Procurement as a Board Member of HDI Service AG and the functions of Legal, Compliance and Data Protection at Talanx AG. In addition, she is Managing Director at Talanx Reinsurance Broker GmbH and Hannover Digital Investments GmbH and also a Member of the Management Board of Talanx Treuhand e.V. She has a long track record of wide-ranging experience in legal affairs and underwriting. As well as taking a degree in law, she also completed an apprenticeship as an insurance practitioner at Hannover Re and she worked in underwriting at HDI Global SE. At Talanx AG, she played a leading role in developing the Purpose of the Talanx Group “together we take care of the unexpected and foster entrepreneurship”.
Alongside her function on the Board of Management of Talanx AG, Caroline Schlienkamp will take over the function of Spokesperson of the Management Board of HDI AG from Jens Warkentin. This is the employee management company of the primary insurance group in Germany. Jens Warkentin will then take on additional key functions as Chief Financial Officer at HDI Deutschland AG in Retail Germany.

HDI Lebensversicherung AG is aligning its Board of Management with its new strategy. As of 1 March 2022, Fabian von Löbbecke, responsible up to now for the occupational retirement provision business, will become a Board of Management member with responsibility for life insurance products and new business. Bartlomiej Maciaga, a specialist in the field of life insurance portfolio optimisation and migration, will join the Group on 1 March 2022. He will be responsible at HDI Life Insurance for actuarial services and underwriting, initially as an authorised representative. Silke Fuchs will continue to be responsible for life insurance operations at HDI Lebensversicherung AG and in the bancassurance area. At the same time, life insurance IT management will become a top-level issue: Sven Lixenfeld, the member of the Board of Management at HDI Germany responsible for the life insurance business and Chairman of the Board of Management of HDI Lebensversicherung AG, will additionally assume responsibility for life insurance and bancassurance IT within Germany. As part of the Group’s restructuring measures, Dirk Böhme – CIO at HDI Life Insurance and a member of the Board of Management at HDI Systeme AG, the Talanx Group’s IT service provider – will step down at the end of February on the best of terms and by mutual agreement.
As announced in November 2021, HDI Lebensversicherung AG has adopted a new strategy aimed at making it a lean and substantially more profitable life insurer and to offer customers a focused, attractive portfolio of products for personal and occupational retirement provision. Market acceptance of its unit-linked CleverInvest product has provided confirmation that HDI Germany is on the right track with this. In addition, biometric risk cover will still be provided. At the same time, the company’s systematic inforce management activities and strict cost-cutting policy will be continued.
Going forward, Fabian von Löbbecke will be responsible for new business in the areas of occupational and personal retirement provision at HDI Germany. He has many years’ experience of developing retirement provision solutions and implementing them in sales operations. The mathematician is currently a member of the Board of Management of HDI Lebensversicherung AG, where he is responsible for occupational retirement provision, and also holds other board positions at bancassurance companies belonging to the Talanx Group’s Retail Germany Division.
Bartlomiej Maciaga is an actuary and member of the German Association of Actuaries (DAV) with substantial expertise in the areas of underwriting and life insurance IT. His role will be to reduce the technical complexity of HDI Life Insurance’s portfolios, manage the portfolio migration process and drive forward actuarial portfolio management. Bartlomiej Maciaga studied economics, finance and banking in Warsaw. After 5 years at Gerling’s Actuarial Services department in Poland, he became an international consultant for more than 15 years, an area he worked in down to the present. His most recent position was at strategy consultants Boston Consulting Group, where he advised life insurers on strategic issues and portfolio optimisation. Subject to approval by BaFin, the German supervisory authority, the plan is to appoint Bartlomiej Maciaga to the Board of Management of HDI Lebensversicherung AG with effect from 2023.
Silke Fuchs will remain responsible for enhancing and modernising life insurance operations and will push forward efficiency projects.
Dirk Böhme, the Board of Management member responsible for life insurance IT at HDI Lebensversicherung AG and HDI Systeme AG, is leaving the company on the best of terms and by mutual agreement to pursue new opportunities. Sven Lixenfeld will take over responsibility for the area as from March. In addition to his broad experience of personal and occupational retirement provision, Sven Lixenfeld has substantial skills in the field of life insurance IT. He was the member of the board of SV SparkassenVersicherung with responsibility for life insurance and IT from 2008 onwards. While there, his activities included migrating all legacy systems to the new target IT environment.
Dr Christopher Lohmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of HDI Lebensversicherung AG and HDI Systeme AG and the Talanx AG Board of Management member responsible for the Retail Germany Division, commented on the changes as follows: “I wish Sven Lixenfeld, Fabian von Löbbecke, Bartlomiej Maciaga and Silke Fuchs every success in their roles. The Board of Management team has the expertise and experience needed to systematically implement the new strategy and make it a success. Fabian von Löbbecke will shape a lean, profitable product range, Silke Fuchs will enhance operations with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and efficiency, and Bartlomiej Maciaga will drive forward our actuarial management activities in close tandem with IT. The new Board of Management will provide optimum support for the sales activities headed by Stefanie Schlick, HDI Germany’s new Chief Sales Officer, and Iris Kremers, who is responsible for HDI Germany’s bancassurance activities. Munich Re’s Supervisory Board appoints Stefan Golling to the Board of Management

The Supervisory Board of Munich Reinsurance Company has appointed Stefan Golling (44) to the Munich Re Board of Management as of 1 January 2021. Management of the Global Clients and North America Division will pass to Mr. Golling from Dr. Peter Röder, who has chosen to step down from the Board of Management at the age of 60 on 31 December 2020. The Board of Management and the Supervisory Board thank Dr. Röder for his more than 30 years of work at Munich Re, 14 of which he spent on the Board of Management.
Stefan Golling started his career at Munich Re after earning his Mathematics degree at the University of Augsburg, Germany, in 2001. He worked in various underwriting positions before serving as General Manager Non-Life for several years in Sydney, Australia; Mr. Golling has been the Company’s Chief Underwriter and Head of Corporate Underwriting since 2015. In addition to heading the Global Clients and North America Division, Mr. Golling will also oversee the US subsidiaries HSB and AMIG, as well as the Lloyd’s and Bermuda markets.
Kokkalas to succeed Kassow as Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Germany

Theodoros Kokkalas (55) will succeed Dr. Achim Kassow (53) as Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Deutschland AG (ERGO Germany) on 1 May 2020. Kokkalas has been CEO of ERGO Insurance Company S.A. in Greece since 2004, and has also been a member of the Board of Directors of HDFC ERGO in India since 2018.
The Supervisory Board of Munich Re has appointed Dr. Achim Kassow to the Board of Management of Munich Re with effect from 1 May 2020. He will assume responsibility for the Asia Pacific and Africa division, as well as for the central divisions Central Procurement and Services. He has been with Munich Re Group since 2016.
Before joining ERGO, Kokkalas held various positions in insurance and banking. Kokkalas was born in Greece and studied at the universities of Piraeus and Athens, at INSEAD in France, and Leibniz University in Hanover, Germany. In addition to his native language of Greek, he speaks German and English fluently.
