Capital Maritime: Συμφωνία 1 δισ. δολαρίων με την Bahri της Σ. Αραβίας για την πώληση 9 πλοίων VLCC

Συμφωνία ύψους ενός δισεκατομμυρίου δολαρίων έκλεισε ο Ευάγγελος Μαρινάκης με την μεγαλύτερη ναυτιλιακή εταιρεία πετρελαίου της Σαουδικής Αραβίας Bahri, για την πώληση εννέα πλοίων VLCC, σύμφωνα με το Bloomberg.
Η συναλλαγή θα μπορούσε προσωρινά να εκτοξεύσει την Bahri, όπως είναι γνωστή η National Shipping Co. της Σαουδικής Αραβίας, ώστε να γίνει ο δεύτερος μεγαλύτερος ιδιοκτήτης των λεγόμενων πολύ μεγάλων πλοίων μεταφοράς αργού πετρελαίου ή VLCC στον κόσμο.
Η Bahri διαθέτει ήδη 40 τέτοια πλοία και η συμφωνία με την Capital Maritime του Ευάγγελου Μαρινάκη θα την βοηθήσει να “προωθήσει σημαντικά τα σχέδια εκσυγχρονισμού του στόλου της, ενισχύοντας τη θέση της μεταξύ των κορυφαίων ιδιοκτητών VLCC παγκοσμίως”, όπως ανέφερε χαρακτηριστικά σε ανακοίνωση της η εταιρεία. «Ο κύριος σκοπός αυτής της εξαγοράς είναι να επιτρέψει στην Bahri να εξορθολογίσει τη διαδικασία σταδιακής απόσυρσης παλαιότερων σκαφών», ανέφερε στους επενδυτές. Θα χρησιμοποιήσει τραπεζικό δανεισμό και τα ταμειακά της αποθέματα για να χρηματοδοτήσει τη συμφωνία.

Η Bahri αναμένει ότι τα πλοία – τα οποία θα αποτελούν περισσότερο από το ένα πέμπτο του στόλου της – θα μειώσουν σημαντικά τα λειτουργικά της έξοδα. Είναι πιο ενεργειακά αποδοτικά και διαθέτουν scrubbers που τους επιτρέπουν να καίνε καύσιμα με υψηλότερη περιεκτικότητα σε θείο χωρίς να αυξάνουν τις εκπομπές ρύπων.
Η Bahri συμφώνησε να καταβάλει στην Capital Maritime 3,75 δισεκατομμύρια ριάλ, ήτοι περίπου 1 δισεκατομμύριο δολάρια. Τα πλοία έχουν μέση ηλικία 5,9 ετών, σχεδόν έξι χρόνια νεότερα από τον υπάρχοντα στόλο της εταιρείας.
Τα πλοία θα παραδοθούν σε πολλές παρτίδες πριν από το πρώτο τρίμηνο του επόμενου έτους. Η Bahri θα καταβάλλει το 10% της συνολικής συναλλαγής κατά την υπογραφή και το υπόλοιπο κατά την παράδοση των πλοίων.
Η πώληση για την ελληνική πλοιοκτήτρια εταιρεία ακολουθεί τις παραγγελίες για έξι VLCC διπλού καυσίμου LNG στην Κίνα νωρίτερα φέτος, προς 140 εκατ. δολάρια το καθένα, με παραδόσεις που έχουν οριστεί για το 2026 και το 2027, ενώ θα αφήσει την Capital Maritime με δύο VLCC, εξαιρουμένων εκείνων που βρίσκονται υπό κατασκευή, σύμφωνα με την καταχώρηση του στόλου στην ιστοσελίδα της ελληνικής εταιρείας.
Σύμφωνα με το Tradewinds ο Ευάγγελος Μαρινάκης υπήρξε σημαντικός επενδυτής σε πολλούς ναυτιλιακούς τομείς, έχοντας ένα πλάνο ναυπήγησης σκαφών που ξεπερνά τα 8 δισ. δολάρια για περίπου 90 πλοία τα τελευταία χρόνια.
Η Capital Maritime & Trading διαθέτει έναν στόλο 11 VLCC που ταξιδεύουν, τα οποία κατασκευάστηκαν μεταξύ 2010 και 2022, ενώ υπάρχουν παραγγελίες για επιπλέον τέσσερα που παραδίδονται το 2027.
 

Saudi shipping firm Bahri signs two MoUs with Greek maritime logistics companies

Bahri, formally known as the National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia, has signed two initial agreements with Greek maritime firms Dynacom and SeaTraders.
Both deals are effective for one year, according to a statement.
The agreements will assist the firms’ existing capabilities and establish avenues to transfer technology and services.
“With the signing of these two significant agreements, Bahri has taken yet another major leap toward improving the operational efficiency of our fleet and further establishing our organization both regionally and globally,” CEO of Bahri Ahmed Ali Alsubaie said.
During the Saudi Greek Investment Forum, representatives from governments and the private sector finalized a variety of investment deals, valued at over SR15.2 billion ($4 billion).
This comes as both countries seek to further bolster commercial relationships.

Bahri’s net profit soars 134% in first quarter despite COVID-19 challenges

Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, on Wednesday reported strong growth in net profit during the first quarter of 2020 despite challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The increase in quarterly earnings was driven by a significant improvement in the performance of the company’s business units resulting from a rise in freight rates and strong demand for oil transportation.
Bahri’s net profit after zakat and tax for the three months ended March 31, 2020, jumped by a huge 133.77 percent to SAR 419.22 million from SAR 179.33 million recorded in the same period in 2019. The growth also represents a quarter-to-quarter increase of 68.3 percent from SAR 249.08 million.
Total revenue for the quarter under review rose to SAR 2.08 billion, up 22.06 percent from SAR 1.7 billion a year ago, and 7.36 percent from SAR 1.94 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019. Total shareholders’ equity stood at SAR 9.63 billion and profit per share at SAR 1.06.
Commenting on the quarterly results, Abdullah Aldubaikhi, CEO, Bahri, said: “We are extremely pleased to report strong earnings for the first quarter as a result of a remarkable performance delivered by our business units. The results are a testimony to our constant desire and our unmatched capabilities to seize opportunities in the market as they emerge. Our extensive efforts to enhance operational efficiency and improve productivity have also paid off. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic causing unique challenges, we are continuing to operate as normal to support our customers.”
The company’s gross profit stood at SAR 561.33 million, rising 31.71 percent from SAR 426.18 million in Q1 2019 while operating profit went up 34.1 percent from SAR 377.18 million in last year’s January-March period to SAR 505.79 million in the corresponding period this year.
