Cybersecurity Specialist Chooses Athens for its Next Step of Expansion in the European Market

This milestone is a major move for our global organisation as we continue to identify strategic locations in which to offer our threat-led services that span Technical Assurance, Consulting and Managed Detection and Response. With specific industry expertise in the Financial, Retail, Maritime and Defence sectors, Nettitude are strategically placed to offer our cybersecurity services and skillset within the Greek market.
As a Maritime nation by trade, Nettitude looks forward to developing strong links with Greek shipping organisation’s. Acting as the cyber arm of Lloyd’s Register, a global technical and business services organisation and a maritime classification society, Nettitude are able to leverage our unique insight created by the combined knowledge of industry-based cyber research and the extensive marine and offshore experience we have as a Group.

Collection of school supplies by Alpha Bank in Athens and Thessaloniki
School supplies were gathered from Alpha Bank’s Employees to support the children sheltered in Institutions in two social contribution events held in Athens and Thessaloniki, on Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5, 2019, in the framework of the Bank’s Corporate Responsibility activities. Specifically, in Athens, the Employees offered dozens of boxes with school supplies (school bags, notebooks, stationery etc.), which were then delivered to the SOS Children’s Villages – Vari by the Corporate Social Responsibility team and Volunteers from the Bank’s Personnel. The international basketball player Konstantinos Tsartsaris, was present at the event and signed basketball balls that were offered as gifts to all the children who attended the event, giving them wishes for a productive school year. In Thessaloniki, the school supplies offered by the Bank’s Personnel were delivered to the SOS Children’s Villages – Plagiari, in the presence of Olympic Champion Anna Korakaki, who gave wishes to the children and signed the giveaway T-shirts for them. In addition, the Bank offered school supplies purchased from the non-profit organisation SAFE WATER SPORTS.
BIMCO Hires Elena Tassioula as Manager For Athens Office
BIMCO has signed a contract with Elena Tassioula as manager of BIMCO’s new office in Athens, Greece. Elena will be engaging BIMCO’s current members in Athens and work to grow the membership in Greece.
“I’m very pleased that Elena will be joining our team. She has worked in shipping, but she also has experience from other industries, and that will enable her to look at how we do things with fresh eyes,” says Erik Jensby, BIMCO Head of Business Development.
BIMCO’s goal with an office in Athens is to have a stronger presence in Greece and a much closer dialogue with BIMCO’s existing and potential members.
BIMCO sees the services offered to members, such as the Support & Advice hotline, Shipping KPI and SmartCon as very valuable because of the increase in regulation, a very competitive market and – in general – a more complex shipping environment.
Elena will start her work at BIMCO in June.
At this point – BIMCO has not settled on an office location in Athens.
BIMCO to open Athens office
BIMCO will open an office in Athens in the early summer of 2019. The objective is to have a stronger and closer dialogue with BIMCO’s Greek membership and to recruit more Greek members. The Greek shipowners are already the biggest group of BIMCO members measured by fleet size.
“Opening an office in Athens is an important step to make BIMCO even more member-focused,” says BIMCO President, Anastasios Papagiannopoulos, Principal of Common Progress.“There is a lot of regulation coming and being a BIMCO member will help Greek shipowners get the advice and information they need to make decisions about their business,” Papagiannopoulos says.The office will only be staffed with one person – like BIMCO’s office in Singapore – and the employee will report to BIMCO’s Head of Membership and Business Development, Erik Jensby. BIMCO is in the process of hiring the right person for the office.The office will be focused on servicing Greek members and promoting the benefits of joining BIMCO to non-members.“We want to be more visible in Athens. The job is to go and meet with members and potential members several times every day, to make sure they understand what we can do for them, and to gather feedback from our members,” says Jensby.The secretariat in Copenhagen will continue to be responsible for the day to day work on shipping policy and regulation.BIMCO has not found a physical location for the office, yet. The intention is to rent a space with another company, which is the solution BIMCO has used with its other local offices in Shanghai and Singapore.Currently, BIMCO has 152 Greek shipowners as members.The opening of the office was announced at a press briefing 3 April in Athens.
